Where is the headline saying a leading candidate has emerged... Freeze is already getting the short end of the stick. I would not be completely disappointed with Freeze, but is he a that much of a step up from Gus? I wish they would at least Guage Lane Kiffin's interest in the job.

They were shut down for 1 year the 2016 season. He was also coaching there in 2015. I get that is a huge set back, but its not like he started the program. No, he isn't a step up from Gus. If he was such a good coach why hasn't Alabama looked at him every year they have an opening?

He may be a solid coach at UAB but winning in the SEC is different than Conference USA.

I am hoping there is one more coach on that list thats not listed. Those are solid group of interviews. Tony Elliot is very intriguing, but he has not been a HC and not that it should disqualify him, I am hoping for someone that has experience running a major program. With Billy Napier, I think he is an good coach, but maybe he isn't the right guy for Auburn. Hopefully the people doing the interviews will conduct a real interview so they can assess these guys. I know Napier is having success at Louisiana, but its hard to really guage that because its the sunbelt conference. Remember when people wanted to hire Turner Gill from Buffalo (not the NFL Bills) and look how all that turned out. With Sarkisian he and Lane Kiffin are pretty much the same. For instance, they are both really good recruiters and their approach to offense is really similar except Lane is a bit more Risky at times. They both flamed out on their own and both had their careers saved by Nick Saban where they learned how to manage program.

Honestly, I am tired of reading about Hugh Freeze. I know he has turned Liberty around and thats great. However, its not like he ran a clean program at Ole Miss. If he doesn't have escorts among the other shady stuff assisting his recruiting efforts, what makes people think he will be successful in the SEC again? He will under the microscope in the SEC.

Finally some movement, Steve Sarkisian is going to interview for the Auburn HC on Sunday. There is not going to be a buyout with his 2023 contract.

I can't understand why Gus could not use Harold Joiner. This guy is an amazing athlete and it would have been amazing to have a big bruising RB to put with Tank. Losing him will sting. I still wonder why we have so many of our top recruits entering the transfer portal. That should have been. Huge red flag over the past couple of years.

Well Steele's plan to fix the offensive problems is to bring in Mike Bobo. That can't be said with a straight face.

I have no idea why Sark or Kiffin are not candidates 1 and 1a and anything else is just crazy. Cristobal is a great recruiter but his in game decisions are questionable.

The only thing that be more comical than Bobo is of his pitch included Rhett Lashlee or Tony Franklin.

Mike Bobo is Steele's pitch to fix the offense. Oh gosh, how can he be a serious candidate? This proves he didn't learn from his 9 win career as a HC. If the BOTs and the AD buy this load of crap, then they should be fired. This coaching search would be comical if it weren't real.

I wonder what this search committee is doing besides helping a coaching target get a new deal?

I believe a round of Congratulations are in order here, Auburn should get a percentage of this new deal, because Auburn was the pawn in this deal.

Cristobal used Auburn as leverage. He or his agent probably were in discussions with Auburn when Gus was fired or before. Now Auburn is scrambling trying to find a solution.

Am I missing something because wasn't this years defense on the subpar side? I realize injuries happen and we lost two super stars last year, but in five years as a defensive coordinator shouldn't he had some depth on the defensive line. Look at how many games this year they couldn't stop the run. So why and who thinks that Kevin Steele is an upgrade to Gus?
