With everything that was riding on the line in that game I understood rushing the field. That game was important on so many levels and then to end it like that. I promise you the elation of Auburn fans was matched by sickening sorrow on the other end. I had a drunk friend try to console me after the game. I told him something to the effect of, 'look you know how there's posters of Michael Jordan dunking the ball while teabagging some poor white guy in the bottom corner of the poster? We're that 'some poor white' guy who was just immortalized on the wrong end of the best sports play of all time." We had about 20 bama friends over to watch the game. Once dude passed the 50 yard line, on his way to my deep depression, not one person at my house said a word. Everyone just went and sat down in different parts of the house and people just left after a while without saying anything. I knew not only had we lost such a big game, but that Alabama would never have a highlight of an iron bowl win that would match that. So yes. That was a totally reasonable game to rush the field ha........ Roll Tide
His tone reflected upon the game. Alabama was dominating the best team in the nation. Obviously there's going to be some hype about that.
Miss St fans are the only people who give sds bad ratings because they wrote about dillon days shenanigans. I was being sarcastic.
Also could it have had something to do with how Prescott was being shut down, the safety and the overall tone of the game against the number one team in the nation that was being reflected in his voice?
So this obviously means MSU fans are going to go give SDS bad reviews on Facebook right? Maybe he was leaning a direction but I've believed for a long time that Gary Daneilson has the best insight to any game he calls compared to anyone on espn.
Well I'm glad you think I have brought something nice to the table here. Confession though: when I was a teenager I booed the hell out of UT's band when they formed the "power t" on Bamas field at half. I lived in Tennessee growing up and we were always getting stomped by UT. It was traumatizing lol. Also some more embarrassing things. I've learned to silence the tool bag inside better these days. "UGA game seems to just be 'whatever the outcome of this game, lets make Auburn fans hate themselves for coming here'." That gave me a good laugh. I've been to a couple iron bowls in t town and Auburn fans were pretty cool. Probably the least amount of incidents from any other fan bases... Oklahoma had the nicest fans. At least the ones I met back in '02 or '03. Can't remember when they came to town.
The whole "you were asking for it" bit. I go to bars... This doesn't happen at the bar scene, and I sure as hell wouldn't put up with people spitting on my wife, "sorry babe. It's the bar scene, so just suck it up aight?" Want to throw round the 100%? How about there's a pretty solid chance you don't say anything that you just said if UGA loses this weekend. Er maybe the tone would be worse. You said you aren't condoning the actions but then just pass it off like they were asking for it. "Sorry for annoying you with our tourist money."
This was a well written account and plea for better treatment. No one likes to hear that their fan base has treated someone I'll. Trust me I know lol, Bama fan here, we have plenty of crazies. But my last experience at a Bama UGA game in Tuscaloosa, we came back to our tailgate to find the tv moved to a completely different tent with UGA fans watching it and all our food and beer gone. No one can say who moved or are what, but it was made clear to us all day that Alabama and her people weren't worth much to them. That being said trash talk happens but we had never had trouble with theft until UGA rolled into town. I'm more troubled by the overall common thread of these accounts all over. I read an Oregon alumnus' article about how he was disgusted at the fans in the crowd. Alabama has certainly had our more than fair share of sleez bags associated with our program. When I lived in Gainesville I had to take my bama decals off my car because I was tired of getting flicked off on my way to work. The problem is deeper than football. I'm not trying to get too deep here but it would take a look inward for all fan bases and maybe some serious public relations advertisement for the sec on tv and jumbo trons. Perhaps even bars could help make a movement. It tarnishes such a great tradition rooted in so many families. I hate to hear things like this.
I don't have a disgust for Vern like most, but I do get why he gets the hate. Gary Daneilson on the other hand is the most intelligent tv announcer out there. His insight to the play by play is unmatched. I'm happy about the switch mainly because it means I'll be able to use watch ESPN app instead of cbs' terrible online capabilities. And hopefully it will be a 7 o'clock game instead of a 2:30 so I'll be able to watch the end at home.
Congrats to Mississippi State and their fans. They look REALLY good.
Wow I hate to see stuff like this. Alabama fans have struggled for a long time with depending on the success of our football team to do well to give us something to be proud of. Its a sad state of quite a few Alabama fans unfortunately. I went to school at UA so I'm apart of Clay's 15%. I love the 85%, but a lot of them need help. Usually it's just a ridiculous but mostly funny rant on Finebaums program, but this happens too much. I still love the passion all Bama fans have for our team, but stuff like this obviously has to stop and gives Bama a bad name for our great fans.
I knew I lost the vols in that comment somewhere. Sorry for the size of the post. First timer, be nice ;)
