"Easy fixes for any DC." - no idea how 'OD' got there :-)
ITA. Makes me wonder if I watched the same game as these guys. A couple of defensive mistakes in the backfield led to 2 TDs early. Easy fixes for any OD. UT's last TD, they snapped the ball while Josh Jobe was getting the signals from the sidelines. UT came in averaging nearly 250 yards on the ground. How did the Bama Rush D do? This game could easily have been 52-10. It goes both ways.
Pardon my ignorance on this subject but why is this game being played so early in the season? I didn't know it had been moved.
ITA. It is sad when there is more in-depth insight in the comments section than the article. UF played two games and showed very little of their offense. They had all off season to work on surprising Bama and it showed. They executed well and made Bama start hesitating on defense. "Bama is vulnerable" makes good click bait. UF is a talented team and it showed.
HUNH has been bad for the game IMO. There's a reason why we have the ref standing over the ball on offensive substitutions and other rule recent rule changes. While the HUNH is 'legal', it was not how football rules were designed to be implemented. Players faking an injury is bad for the game but turning football into soccer or basketball on grass, is not much better. Either allow the defense the right to substitute between plays, at least after an offensive 1st down, or go to hockey substitution rules where more than 11 players can be on the field as long as they are not involved in the play. Dropping a flag on a 310 pound DL 40 yards from the ball and 3 yards from his sideline is ridiculous. [BTW, I think this is a silly solution but it shows how messed up the situation is now.] If your so afraid to line up your 11 with the other guy's 11 that you have to run no-hurry, then go play another sport.
Key statement is "And when South Carolina’s defense kept 6 defenders close to the line of scrimmage, Saban said the read for QB Tua Tagovailoa is to pass." SC picked its poison. Najee had 5.1 ypc and Robinson finished with a 4.1 ypc. SC didn't exactly stuff Bama at the LOS. SC knew that if they took defenders out of the box they would be facing Najee/Robinson or Tua getting to the second level. When Bama plays a team that can rush 4 who can get to Tua, and stop the run, and stop the swing passes, and cover our WRs then it might be an issue. RTR!
