The “spin” is simple. The only argument FSU really had was that no power five undefeated conference champion had ever not made the playoffs. That’s it. Their argument was “tradition” or history. Their offense was putrid without JT. Barely got by Fl and looked sloppy and weak against a not so great Louisville team who managed to look even worse. It’s 4 best teams. No way ‘Noles were one of those. If any FSU fan is honest they have to admit they are not same team without JT. They would have to admit they are less of a team. If Harbaugh could have picked between Washington, Bama, Texas, Georgia or FSU in round one - as of this moment - he’d pick FSU so fast it would make your head spin. I think it was an easier decision for the committee than they would ever admit. Anyway, ‘Noles will get pummeled by Georgia and then maybe everyone will look at this a little different, unless they blame there 3 touchdown or more beat down on the lingering effects of the horrible “snub”.
True dat! Will likely be the most lopsided loss this coming bowl season. That ACC title game was like watching a bad high school game. Two putrid offenses. ‘Noles did not help their “4 best team” case in either of their last two games. I think it was an easier decision for the committee than they made it sound.
Good luck with that. Time and effort would be better spent getting ready for a motivated Georgia them that will more than likely send the ‘Noles home crying even more after a beat down. If by some miracle FSU wins (highly unlikely) they can always sell “National Champs” T-shirts like UCF did years ago… Just gotta get past those Dawgs first.
Saban has always preached the concept of averting attention away from “outside influences”, like social media, and instead focus your attention on what you can control, which is personal development, your own improvement toward the standard set for all players. So it is pretty much what the GOAT teaches.
No doubt that GA has arrived. Kirby done great job building them and has used Bama as a model. “ Smart” way to go about it. But, even GA fans have to admit, their program has just recently ascended to this level relatively recently in terms of claiming a “dynasty”. Talk is cheap and anyone can say anything. No one has a crystal ball. Who woulda predicted the NIL and portals effects 5-6 years ago. No way to know what future holds, so let’s compare “ dynasty’s” 10-12 years from now to compare GA to Bama, assuming GA sustains for that long… Anyone who has followed college football (if we even have that anymore) for last 40 plus years (and likely very few of you can say that out there) has to recognize that what Bama has done under Saban is utterly remarkable. To deny is to show your ignorance for the game. Can GA duplicate, or come close to the same run… we shall see. Comparisons at this stage are apples to oranges. Hats off to Ga, they are off to a fantastic start, land are clearly headed that way, but et’s see how the next decade or so plays out. I just hope to be around for it all!
This will help his draft stock for sure! Once a walk-on… always a walk-on…
Yep, he says more what he thinks will get clicks, not necessarily what he may really think. It’s just entertainment motivating him, plain and simple. It worked on me, had to see what he was gonna say, I guessed ”Pruitt” before clicking, based on the belief above… whadda you know…
What a coincidence… it was also the worst beat-down of the CFP era. TCU wasn’t a draw. Take note networks… get it right committee!
Actually, under the current discussed format, the 4 highest ranked conference champs would get a 1st round bye. So this year, for example, both Clemson (who got beat up by SCar) and Utah (who the Gators beat) would get byes… I hope this is not how it shakes down, but that is what has been discussed as how it would go down.
True. Will be interesting to see how the Coaches Poll compares… if they even do an end of the season poll.
Good point. So the second round games may have more of a tendency to be one-sided. Maybe that’s why they considering a format (which I don’t like) of the top rated conf champs getting byes round one… as this year you’d have had Clemson (trounced by Tenn) getting a first round bye simply because they would have been rewarded for playing in a weak conference! Way to try and level the playing field ESPN/CFP.
Well, it is a “final” ranking and not a “season” ranking. Presumably it is a ranking of the teams and their comparative ability to each other here at seasons end. IMHO, TCU shouldn’t be at 2. That was a massacre last night No fluke. A total beat down. If a boxing match, they would have called it early. Did TCU deserve to be in CFP? Certainly. Are they 2nd best team in the country? Nope. I am not an Ohio fan, but based on CFP results alone, I’d at least have them above TCU. Played same GA team much more competitively, a week or so ago. Michigan lost to this same TCU squad but did beat Ohio. Seems like AP felt they had to keep the 4 playoff teams 1 through 4. This all goes to show we really do not need a 12 team playoff. Heck, most years it’s debatable there are 4 deserving teams. $ talks, I get it, and a lot of teams that flirt with top 10 - 15 rankings are thrilled, but get ready for a lot of first round blow-outs like last night… but this is what the networks want… so this is what we will get - Playoff games people will turn off at half-time.
