We're all kind of missing the point on this. Smith has not yet graduated from Bama so he doesn't meet the grad transfer rules. Chris Black WAS a grad transfer which is why he can go to Mizzou and play right away. Saban is just refusing what almost any coach in America would - to waive the eligibility requirement for an in-conference transfer.
