No reason the Gator offense shouldn't score on every possession. If they do not - we know where the problem is.
A solid Florida offense would score on every possession. Even if they scored on every 3rd possession, it would be an improvement over the past 2 years. But the gold standard is scoring when your offense has the ball.....
Imagine if Coach Spurrier was our Offensive Coordinator. Heck...we'd be competing for another SEC Championship! I honestly have no idea what happens this year. It boils down to how well the offense performs.
Florida should have thrown a ton of cash at Todd Monken before he left for the pros. As it is.....I fear we face (yet) another season of mediocre (at best) offensive play calling......sigh......
From a Gator.....hats off to the Tigers for playing their guts out in this marathon game. I probably speak for many that I did not like the ejections at ALL! Chin up to the Clemson baseball program - no loser in today's game!
Give Duke the win. Only way to stop this....losing team gets the win........
Wish we had gone to him when we needed that first down before settling for a FG and leaving a minute 36 on the clock for Mizzou......but I'm not the one calling plays......
Thanks, Conner....good article and pretty much nails it. Don't understand why we don't have a spy on the QB when we play these running versions. Heck I don't even understand why we don't see Mertz run more. When he does he's fantastic! We need to have a better run offense - utilize the assortment of weapons we have - especially our 2 TE's! Whenever we get the ball if we don't move the chains we aren't going to win. Not sure that's possible with Billy's mindset but that's what is needed......GO Gators!
Florida's tight ends...Boardingham and Hanson in addition to wide receivers Wilson, Jackson, Fraziers, Mizell, and Burke were not mentioned in the article but along with Pearsall will give Mertz plenty of options for passing. Throw in ETN, Johnson, and Webb carrying the ball and Georgia will have it's hands full stopping the Gator offense. I think Beck is a very good QB and Georgia has plenty of weapons on offense too so it may just come down to who's defense will be better at stopping the other team's offense.
The game is at 3:30pm so not a night game for the Gamecocks.....
Florida tight end Arlis Boardingham was named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week and hopefully will figure significantly in boosting their offense this season. He caught two touchdowns and finished with seven receptions for 99 yards vs. Vanderbilt last week. At 6-3 and 240 he's a load to bring down and has great hands! Thanks for all the articles published here that I've enjoyed over the years! I look forward to a great game on Saturday on the road against a talented Gamecock squad!
