"The only ranking that matters is the one final one that comes out in early December. We’ll see if “6 of the hardest 10 schedules are from SEC” at that time and the committee will use it as a factor." The above statement is exactly right. I don't think anyone would disagree. However, how can a team start out this season with a #1 ranking when their SOS is ranked at #42 with a scheduled game with one Top 25 ranked team? OSU won it all last year and rightly so but that should not automatically catapult them up to the top spot for this season. Everyone talks about SEC bias but this clearly shows it's not.
I originally thought it wouldn't be a problem but after listening to "The Hat" last night on the radio show saying they changed some personnel and schemes, I am wondering a little bit. I mean 6 offensive plays 3 defensive plays and a couple special teams plays....leads me to believe they were not real certain about it in the beginning. I don't know!
The NCAA passed a freshmen eligibility rule back in 2012 that takes effect in 2016. The sports affected right now are football and basketball. It simply states in order for freshmen to be eligible to participate in football and basketball they must have a minimum 2.3 GPA and a qualifying ACT/SAT score and have completed 10 of 16 core courses entering their senior year of high school. They have no opportunity to make up the classes or go to summer school to get the credits. I have not heard much chatter about it and I can see some real challenges ahead with this rule. Whatta ya think?
