ZZ is the glue that is holding that team together. I like the title here, DK is the headliner but without ZZ the Vols would likely have unraveled completely last night. He reminds me a lot of mid-late 2000s Jason Kidd.
Looking ahead watching the Oregon/Creighton game, I think I'd be more concerned playing Oregon than Creighton. Our defense can shut down the shooting game of Creighton but Oregon has a dual big man presence that does seem to give us issues (Miss State being a good example). We'll see though
Yeah Aidoo hitting those free throws in the end were clutch, but other than that I wasn't overly impressed with him tonight. He looked a little soft, Awaka luckily stepped up but couldn't stop reaching over the back so we didn't get to see him break out. I'd like to see the stats on forced turnovers from Texas because I'm willing to bet Zeigler forced half of those
I think every basketball fan in the country except for NC State fans were pulling for Oakland in this one
Yeah honestly watching this Creighton/Oregon matchup, I think Texas is better than both of them. We didn't play well on offense but it's also true that Texas is a pretty great defensive team. Creighton and Oregon both don't have nearly as good of a defense to lean on.
I watched post game break downs and reading articles saying how horrible Zeigler went on offense. His shooting was very off tonight, that's true. But was no one else seeing what i was seeing? Forget Knecht, Zeigler was the reason UT won tonight. His ability to get his teammates open is seriously overlooked. Go watch the game back and look at how many times he gave his teammates open looks at the basket even if they couldn't convert. He put that team on his shoulders tonight on both ends.
Joe is just not the guy to get things done consistently. I really want to see Nico in the starting line up, better than laser throwing 8 yards and the offense could be so much better if we could trust him under pressure
You're right, we only scored 41. Sorry about that 1 point
How does a team go 1-3 in TWO single elimination tournaments? This site clearly doesn't have an editor
The take on Tennessee is so idiotic. The playoff committee has shown it values UTs SOS over every other one loss team, only OSU OR Michigan is getting in no matter what the point spread is because of their garbage SOS, and no 1 loss ACC champ is getting in the playoffs. Vegas had us at -150 odds to make the playoffs before this weekend. Those odds are only getting better with LSU, Bama winning and oregon being eliminated. Also the Georgia game was played AT HOME. "I certainly didn't see anything that would tell me a round 2 would be different". Well then you're blind. Let me preface this with in no way am I saying UT would for sure win, or even be the favorites. But Georgia has been very human and not nearly as dominate while not playing at home. I'm not making any other excuses but to say you didn't see anything means you're completely blind to the obvious. Go back through my comment history, I'm usually try to keep my emotions out of comments but it's stupid sportswriters like this who try and set a narrative which is so far off from reality it's astounding
Like you said there is a lot of football left to play. I wouldn't call a 2 score game a curb stomp but I don't want to take away from your win so I'll try and keep my emotions in check.
Well let me word that differently. 4th quarter we finally played close to our potential but it was too late. We are a playoff team, good teams bounce back and regroup after a loss.
I agree with everything except I still think UT deserves the #4 spot in the playoff. Georgia had a plan, and executed well. That doesn't make us not a playoff capable team or make it impossible to regroup and rematch much closer
I agree with everything you said. I'm just hoping the playoff committee doesn't punish us too hard for a 2 score game on the road against the clear best team in the country right now. And before someone says it'd be the same outcome, remember the year Bama and Georgia traded lopsided wins.
There absolutely was. Held GA to 3 points defensively and finally showed offensive spark before our offensive line shot us in the foot over and over. Hooker played less scared and tense.
They aren't bad. They played a very good team in a tough environment and kept it within honest reach in the 4th quarter.
Congratulations Georgia. You deserve the top spot. As much of a outmatch it was in the first half, the moral victory is the second half effort should have UT bringing up the #4 spot in the poll if Georgia wins out. The first half was bad, but a lot of credit to the Georgia fans for our offensive lines many errors. If this game was played on a neutral field, a 14 point game may turn to a much closer score. Calling UT overrated is a discredit to everything these kids have accomplished on this team. They didn't choose to rate themselves #1. I'm proud of what they've accomplished so far this season and I hope they get a shot in the playoffs
Hooker has to stop playing scared. He looks calm but continually throws the check down. You can tell he doesn't want to go deep
I've got hope, however minimal. Bama came back from 18 down against us on the road, I'm holding out we can do the same
74.5% seems...lofty. I'd think it would be more in the 55-60 range.
Realistically it's mainly the bandwagon UT fans who are the obnoxious ones. Most of us who stuck it out through the 2 decades of mediocrity have expectations more in the realm of reality. I would not be surprised if we lost this game, but I do think we keep it close. Having said that I predict 49-35 UT winning. Because I'm a fan and I have bias, that's my only argument
This argument gets really old after 8 games with 2 wins being top 10 teams. Try something different.
All smack talk aside, I'm really hoping for an injury free game on both sides. Huge games like this tend to take a massive toll on players' bodies, and while I'll be highly entertained watching the top two teams go at it, it will be a shame for any player to have a season or career ending injury.
Blame the CBS over lords for getting first pick of all SEC games. I can't wait for that stupid contract to expire
Pretty sure Oklahoma State lost to KSU, might want to edit the article
Well sometimes you're right, sometimes you're wrong. In this case and the article, you were extremely wrong
Stroud getting exposed by a mediocre Penn State team. Get him out of the Heisman discussion please
If you want "bold" (read: stupid) Florida goes up at the half and carries even more of the lead, UGA offense reverts to Mizzou game quality, AR finally plays to his potential and gators win by 21. Again, bold prediction not realistic before I get flamed
