Vanderbilt coach Todd Fitch said after the game that the plan was for Fuller to handle kicks inside the 10-yard line, as she proved to be the most accurate among the team's available kickers in that range. "She's been accurate in that area of the field," Fitch said. "... We get in the game and she was highly accurate with it in that range, the extra points and inside the 10, so she was going to get those. The other kickers were going to get it further back. "It was truly off statistics of the week's preparation. It wasn't about trying to do something special. It was truly who made most of those kicks." Out of curiosity... why aren't people getting as upset about the fact that the Broncos went out and got a WR to play QB when all of theirs were out? She went out and crushed a textbook extra point so kudos to her. Those that say "no big deal its just an extra point, anyone can do it"... yo... i've seen your types kicking at the pregame tailgates and it aint that pretty...
as someone who has treated them in my training, anterior hip dislocations are actually not that common(~10%). posterior are by far more common, and often come from a dashboard injury (the knee hits the dashboard which drives the thigh bone out the back of the hip)... it is very hard to dislocate anteriorly, usually requiring the back of the heel to be aiming for the back of the head (think ballet dancer) either way any injury such as this is a very bad injury
as someone who has treated these injuries back during my training, these can often times (but not always) be devastating injuries. two of the biggest factors as to if this is a career threatening injury are immediate and long term: 1)Immediate - time to reduction (putting the dislocated hip back where it needs to be). the longer the hip is out of socket, the higher chance of the ball of the socket dying and then subsequently needing for me to replace it (hip replacement) - my suspicion is that if it were out, the medical staff would have it reduced before leaving the hospital in order to minimize that risk 2)long term - what damage to the joint occurred. reports are that he had a fracture of the socket as well, which may require operative fixation. also, is there other damage than just the fracture - these are where the long term issues occur which often lead to arthritis later in life the one positive thing is that he will have the best medical and rehab care available to anyone with this injury. but there's no doubt this young man's career has been permanently altered. wish a classy individual the speediest of recoveries - Volnation is with you
