... which has been been determined to be a illegal statute clearly in violation of the Sherman Act providing and safeguarding the economic libery of citizen since 1890.
That's when the problems started? What problems? The NCAA has been in violation of the a comprehensive Act that safeguards economic liberties and dates back to 1890. They were never seriously challenged on it until more recently.
The NCAA could NOT have been proactive in coming up with transfer portal and NIL regulations. That too would have been illegal violations of Federal and many state laws. The only answer, which will take some time, is collective a bargaining agreement. Of course, that will force the players to become student employees.
What? Please at least take the time to follow the case. Proceeding the investigation hitting the press, the NCAA spent much time digging at UT to find nothing. The Nico recruitment allegations was all that was discovered. Being falsely accused of an infractions that would have resulted in $10s-100s of millions in eventual losses sounds like a perfectly good reason to sue.
The NCAA's guidelines (rules) were in direct violations of both state and Federal antitrust laws and supported by multiple decisive court decisions to include 9-0 decision by the SC. The only way you can believe the NCAA is not the enemy is to also believe the NCAA is above the law.
As I said previously, officials changing the landscape of any sport year after year after year through interpretation and new emphasis on this rule or play philosophy has become absurd and producing a weaker product. It was only a couple decades ago that officials vowed to curb what had become a slow brute force game during the NCAA tournament and return to the "finesse" rules that govern such play. Wow how things have changed! I can't imagine a young Shaq or Malone up against college players under what was allowed last night.
I'm still a huge fan of KH as a player and appreciate all she has done for UT. Unfortunately as a coach, she has had limited success with obvious basketball IQ mishaps illustrating she was in over her head. Certainly nothing to be ashamed of at this level of competition not to mention UT's demands/expectations. Also, hats off to an AD willing to do what has and needs to be done.
Regardless of the sport, the ever changing world of officiating year to year that emphasizes one set of rules while ignoring others is becoming difficult to watch. You just hope you’re the right team the right year with the right attributes. Congrats to Purdue on the win but I can’t see a season of you making it this far if three seconds, offense fouls, walking, or position play is a part of the basketball landscape.
Sorry but your game analysis is not even close. Possibly the most gritty defensive struggle of the entire tournament with offensive production on both sides struggling. The difference on offense for the real UT was they were the more complete team with more of the offense distributed. The problem with Tx was turnovers and that's saying a lot for UT on defense since the officiating was not being called the same on both ends; especially around the basket.
Rece Davis must be recovering well from his selective memory loss a couple of months ago.
Williams was not down on the play. Weird and odd and could have been called no question but you can’t blame a guy for effort. Nor did it change the game’s outcome by 7-14 points.
Agreed. The last thing anyone wants to see is the officials as the centerpiece of a game. Unfortunately, that is where we are. If not, then why is this an annual conversation? Between the no calls and ticky-tack calls, the contest was greatly affected; more specifically the score directly.
Agree somewhat but the biggest delta is more likely Alex Golesh's departure to USF. Very few offensive series under his watch that appeared to be just going through the motions.
@Donk. Certainly could have been called but was likely the best no call all game. Williams had not been whistled down on the play. Lots of contact anytime the D is ripping at the ball.
Developed talent? In the last 8 years, GA finished no lower than 6th in recruiting. Without last year's title, the narrative would have been Kirby is Richt with much more raw talent.
How's all that talent at TA&M working out?
You were down by 18 with 7:00 to go in the first half and Bamer gave the game away? Is that really you Mr. Nadmyer? WTF!
Why? Holding a political snake pit doesn't mean you're blind to it. Vols know all too well both situations.
Well played and brilliant! Classic 20/80 rule where 20% are contributors and 80% just consume. UT just bumped that number up a bit. Gotta pay to party!
Have you seen UT's pass defense that doesn't seem to be getting any better week to week? I'm a Vol but can't see it happening unless we outscore them.
Huh? Not unless you have only began following within the last decade. It's GA, Vandy, and USA. Although GA will be the most complete team UT's faced this season, Vandy and USA will be over prior to the half. There're sadly bad.
LOL! You did better than I. Tidefan for some reason believes Jeremy Pruitt is the defendant on the stand. When the case is built around the plaintiff in defense, it rarely plays to his advantage.
Are you kidding? Unless Pruitt has concluded he never again wants to be a head coach in a major conference, he has everything lose! Thus far, UT has already reported a slew of violations without exposing Pruitt's direct involvement and/or gross negligence. The only way you would be able to believe that Pruitt has the upper hand is to assume he is completely innocent after almost 50 major infractions with him at the helm. I'm not buying it.
Uhhh what? This is not a criminal case in defense of Pruitt but rather a threat by Pruitt after UT's refusal to entertain the idea of a settlement. Naturally, the most elementary justification for Pruitt receiving a settlement would be his lack of involvement or innocence; never even suggested. BTW, Pruitt has much more to lose here than UT.
Makes sense, about as much sense as making concessions to terrorists and kidnappers! Notice that the lawsuit threat never made any assertions towards Pruitt's innocence in the matter. If he has dirt, it should be his obligation to air it.
Just bizarre! There still has been no explanation for this call by the SEC or Kiffin that will hold water and certainly NO reporter or journalist is willing to ask any obvious questions! How about since when does the QB determine a stop in play? And I'm sure it was going to be a huge completion with two unblocked linemen wrapped around him a second beyond the snap. The officials including the umpire certainly didn't believe anyone blew a whistle as indicated by his pursuit and signaling of the TD. Extreme angle but no more than Kiffin's take, if the stop in play occurred immediately after the snap, why was he not arguing for roughing the passer?
Can't fault Ole Miss for playing within the rules. Although unsportsmanlike, it's still within the rules. In fact, the officiating was bad on both sides of the ball Sat night to the extent that the the shoe was on the other foot and in Oxford, the crowd response would have been similar story. As I've said, does the SEC not have the optics to sense a powder keg type game? We can usually predict half of them based on past history alone. Only send your best officiating crew to such games.
