I usually dont reply to trolls, but you are a special kind of uneducated (or at least uninformed) troll. Considering MU will almost always have at least half of the stories (if not much more) in KC media and MU will almost always have ALL the media pull in STL, this was a stupid comment. I am not sure what other new public, research, or land grant school opened in these areas that are taking up the news but feel free to enlighten us. It should also be noted that the last MU ku football game drew a larger crowd than ANY home game for ku that year. Lastly, Mizzou is shaping up to have a better BASKETBALL recruiting class than ku FULL STOP. Want to talk about a school that is in sad shape? Let's look at a school that relies on trolling another school to NOT play a football or basketball game to get media attention, or at the very least, to feed its own ego. Let's also talk about a school that has not been able to fill scholarship positions for a program that should be making more money than any other sport. Finally, let's talk about a school that relies on a state that it is not even located in to pay the bills, attract students, attract business, and even attract sports fans. Or maybe we could not, that would also be just fine with everyone on this board.
Your Mizzou "friends" in no way represent the mass majority of students or even fans on this topic. I can say that with research along with being in a position to represent these people.
A 12 team playoff with 4 byes would only require an extra week (at most) while using the current system. Also, There is a large gap between the conference championship games and when the current playoff is held, so in theory this would be a way to even have a 16 team, 4-week tourney. I know this would be a lot of football, but there is a reason why the NCAA does not sanction a true football championship... Because the current system is unfair. By contrast, they recognize that the basketball tourney is not the best, but at very least it is fair.
If you read any other comment or spend your time actually researching instead of creating an account, then you would see that "seeing it coming" is laments terms for "having a reasonable apprehension." I'll take $500 for the time I spent educating you, as my pro bono quota is actually complete for the year.
Well if that is the standard Mizzou should top your list. I was called boss by hundreds of employees the day I graduated. Also, the University of Missouri system has more Fortune 500 CEOs than any other school. (Mizzou tops the public school list with 3 and the St. Louis branch of the system actually ties A&M with 2.) However, being called "boss" is shortsighted and not something I would measure success by. This must be the type of shortsightedness they teach at the cult of texas...
Da fuq is up with this headline??? Might as well have been, "Fuente took job at school other than Texas!" Who is writing copy???
Wolfman, I agree that most people don't want the "flavor of the week;" but the top four teams are still subjective because there are 5 top conferences (regardless of bias). So one way to be fair would to do the 5 conference champions and an at-large opponent. However, in this case the "top seeds" would have a bye and then the "bottom seeds" would have a whole other game to play. What would be done to alleviate this would add another two at-large bids. This would create a far-superior payoff, except it all but eliminates the possibility of any other conference outside the Power 5 from ever having a chance. So to make this fair (and to treat all FBS schools equally, you would have to have a 16 team playoff with all 10 conference champions and 6 at-large bids OR do a 12 team playoff with 4 byes... As you can tell, this would require a large re-write of how the system works. And unfortunately, re-writing the system is exactly what the powers that be HATE. So fans and players pay for it...
haha Florida throwing rocks from their glass house
Just a question, has any other location besides Atlanta or Birmingham been entertained? Maybe Memphis, St. Louis, Louisville, New Orleans, or even Miami? Hell, one could even make an argument for Jacksonville, Dallas, Charleston, or Houston.
It would actually be battery not assault. He would have had to have seen it coming to be assault. But didn't look like an accident to me! Especially that second guy... Smh
Got my Mizzou tickets in the mail! if you need a pic lemme know :)
riiiiight... you just pay 43k per year to join a strange cult instead.
Thursday night in Columbia? Maybe is EXTREMELY hopeful!
Haha this is a hilarious question. Even from an outside perspective, Missouri fans should have a chip on their shoulder for the lack of media hype. If any other team was tied for best year-over-year regular season record in the SEC and 2nd only to bama with total season record, they would be all over the news. With headlines such as "Will ____ finally take down Bama?" Or "Redemption year for ____." The problem is, Missouri is still seen as an outsider to the rest of the SEC and instead of other teams going to bat for them, they are making comments (like the one above) pushing them away. The SEC is supposed to be the conference that understand the difference between an in-conference rival and a non-SEC team. If the SEC truly is the best conference in football, fans should be backing up ANY team in the conference, especially when they win!
Missouri is actually one of the most (if not THE MOST) geo-cultural diverse state in the union. St. Louis is the westernmost "Eastern" city and Kansas City is the easternmost "Western" city. Those two metropolitan areas aligns Missouri as a Northern state, while the rest of the state identifies as Southern. Springfield is considered the "Buckle of the Bible Belt," and is Missouri's 3rd largest city; if that isn't Southern I don't know what is! I think having Missouri in the SEC not only aligns better than other schools, but it helps normalize the SEC culture to truly cast a larger net on the rest of the nation.
Missouri has a Tiger statue. IT is very prominently displayed as well. Here is a link if needed https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8c/Mizzou_TigerPlazaFountain.jpg
Pretty soon uga will be the consolation kansas. How unfortunate is that...
1960 and 2007... An easy Google search would have told you that. 1960 was actually an undefeated season (as kansas forfeited a win after being found guilty of starting a pro player). 2007 is easy for anyone to claim a title of need be as an LSU team coming off a bad loss played an extremely overrated osu team for the title. And not to mention Mizzou only lost to one team that year. Finally Bamatime, please don't use this to start an argument as I could go into great detail of the claimed bama championships that hold less water than those.
