So sick of these guys calling it “fake outrage” just because they are catching the heat. It’s actual outrage. FSU has to win their game 59-0 to impress the committee according to Herbstreit, but Michigan can get 213 yards of offense in their game and be #1? Complete hypocrisy. TCU/Georgia was the lowest rated champ game in the playoff’s history and they went with 1-loss Texas and Bama to fix that. It’s an invitational ratings/ad sales tournament at this point. These ESPN analysts digging in and blaming the fans is only making me despise them more.

If I was Lane I would want Arnett there as long as possible as well. But seriously, the people whobhave a problem with this obviously don’t watch State games. Arnett was a great DC but he was so overwhelmed as a head coach I truly believe he is relieved to move on. The whole team/staff would be at the 20 on the sidelines while we’re trying to get a stop and he would stand in silence at the 50 by himself. His whole demeanor changed from last year. There was no fire, no communication, coaching or anything during games. He just wasn’t ready for the job and it was crystal clear. Look at these qb completion stats against us: LSU 88%, South Carolina 90%, Bama 83%, Western Michigan 77%, Auburn 77%… the whole team in every aspect took a complete nosedive, including his side of the ball, so you can’t blame it all on Will getting hurt or not having his recruits. He recruited the whole defense. I appreciate him stepping up during a tragic situation which pretty much no modern team has been through. There’s no blueprint for your coach passing away five days before signing day and the portal opening and everyone made the best decisions they could at the time. He will be a great DC again next fall with $7.5M in his pocket and I will continue to root for him. It was the right move for everybody.

The difference was he played our godawful defense. Western Michigan’s third string QB threw 27-35 for 262 yards and 3 TD’s against us.

The O-line was excellent for the first half, but when you refuse to change from running constantly the defense stacks the box and there’s not much they can do. I think that strategy was on Arnett more than Barbay. Barbay and Arnett have both said it was too conservative and it will be adjusted. Barbay had games at his previous schools where he threw it 50 times and games where he ran it 50 times, so I wouldn’t assume it’s going to look the same this week.

We all know if this kid was a star he’d still be playing.

I agree it’s not the same as it used to be as far as loyalty, but plenty of teams have a good culture even with the portal. “The portal king” chooses to flip half his roster every year, nobody is making him rely so much on it. He also chooses to bring in guys like TJ Dudley, who was kicked off Clemson’s team for filming his naked teammates in the locker room. I doubt that helps.

I agree with Kirk. I’m going to try and really enjoy this last normal season before it all goes haywire.

My question to you is where are you seeing these SEC fans that are cheering this? Across the board I’d say most cfb fans are upset about realignment, not cheering it. It’s not good for the sport to leave P5 programs like WSU and Oregon state without a P5 conference. Also, I don’t even like Greg Sankey, and nobody I know worships him. Tying our whole wagon to espn was dumb. YOUR SCHOOL and Oregon just issued the death blow to your Pac12 conference, not SEC fans. Why is your school ruining college football? Why don’t you care about cfb mr husky? Go to a big10 site and enjoy your 50% payout in a conference you’ll never win.

The Tulu and Jett snubs bother me a lot more than being picked last. I don’t agree with it, but it’s somewhat understandable considering the coaching changes. Having the returning 1st team all-SEC, league leading kickoff returner in third is ridiculous. Hard to believe they do any research on us at all with those all-SEC votes.

Past ten years against SEC west opponents: Arkansas 7-3 A&M 6-4 Auburn 5-5 Ole Miss 5-5 LSU 3-7 Alabama 0-10 Why people think we have no shot against ark, au, om and a&m is beyond me. We also have four seasons in the past ten where we won 9 or more games It’s not 2004 anymore but everyone wants to believe Croom is still coaching I guess.

Let me try and explain. It’s not a 180 degree change. Will won’t be under center every snap. The plan is not 3 yards and a cloud of dust or triple option or whatever other nonsense you have heard from uninformed writers. They literally are using air raid passing concepts and mixing in more pro style and running plays. In case you didn’t notice we were far more successful once Leach started running more. I don’t understand why everyone outside of State parrots these talking points and I don’t know where they came from.

Programs all over the country are fielding football teams without any of these issues. Every school deals with one or two bad stories every decade or so, sure, but Georgia has a story like this 3 or 4 times a year. It’s not coincidence IMO. To give an example at State, Moorhead let our players do whatever they wanted, including getting high in the team hotel and breaking each others eye sockets at practice. Leach took care of it with discipline, expectations and he sent many of them packing. I don’t think Kirby has that in him.

Arnett and this staff have passed every test so far with flying colors and I expect that to continue into the season. Keep sleeping on them at your own peril.

From what I have heard from our insiders and MSU podcasts is that Rufus has a long term injury that State will not allow him to play with because it’s too risky. His football career is probably over, unless he finds a school willing to accept the liability and let him play. Rufus is all Dawg, and a Starkville native, it’s a sad situation for such a talented player.

Bama fans and the admin are actually sick. That’s what I’ve learned the last couple days. Greg Byrne is full of it in that interview, and the stories aren’t adding up between the testimony, Bama’s previous statements and what he says they knew now. Nate Oats has shown no regard for the family. It’s been handled so poorly on every level it’s astounding. Sankey failed too for not stepping in since this is such a poor reflection of the SEC. What world are we living in where two Bama players can be at a murder scene where one of them provided the murder weapon and they haven’t even been punished? Enjoy your basketball wins. Even if you win the whole thing this is all anyone will remember.
