Yea don’t pay attention to paris10. He trolls UK websites and his comment is inaccurate. Benny Snell averaged 5 yards per carry. I have no idea where that ranks but it’s an impressive ypc clip.
Every single coach on this list recruits the same players that Cal does. And guess what, your coach would do the same if he could. You sir, just don’t know what you’re talking about.
I agree. This team just doesn’t seem to have it. Everyone says how talented they are. Honestly, I don’t think this group of players are as good or “talented” as they’ve been made out to be. On top of that, they’re all freshman. However, I felt this way in 2014 as well and they ended up playing in the National championship game so who knows. Never completely count out a John Calipari coached team.
Where did you get that the Bengals won’t get a comp pick for him? I’m almost certain that’s not correct.
Drew Barker actually retired from football. He didn’t transfer.
Time to throw an offer towards AJ Mayer out of Covington Catholic. Kid is the real deal and being under recruited right now. He’s currently committed to Miami (OH).
@Tiger TD by overrated I meant improperly rated by a spot (IMO). But also, I do feel like the media has been a little too high on the Gamecocks both in the preseason and throughout the regular season so far.
Also, the comparison between South Carolina and NC State aren’t the same thing. NC State had a better overall resume and that was clear. It’s not so clear between UK and South Carolina, which is why the head to head results hold more weight.
Wow it seems like you acknowledged my opinion and responded to it like a whiny child. First of all, I’m not a prevalent commentator so when you say I “disappeared” last week that doesn’t even make sense. And I can read just fine. I don’t care if it was week one or today, South Carolina is an average football team and they’ve been average all year. Yes, I know Kentucky is also an average football team. I’m just saying, I don’t see what is so special about South Carolina. What have they done that suggests they’re a better team than Kentucky? Especially considering the fact that Kentucky beat them handily in Columbia. I disagree with Dari’s opinion and I didn’t do it in a rude way. It’s okay for you to disagree with me, but I don’t understand why you have to act like a child and throw insults around.
And....South Carolina continues to be overrated. I’m still just not seeing it.
I know my fellow UK fans like to be constantly negative and seemingly hope for bad things to happen based on the attitude, but it’s time to give this team a little credit. They’re 6-2 and they’ve only lost one game they should’ve won so stop acting like they’re always screwing things up. I’m going to enjoy this winning season, I suggest you do as well. It’s a lot more fun that way.
8 wins are more than “still in the picture” for UK my friend. There are 3 games left on the schedule that UK will be favored in and should win. There’s no reason UK shouldn’t be 9-3 at the end of the season.
This is starting to look more and more like the South Carolina game. People were inexplicably down on Kentucky going into into, South Carolina did a blackout and thought they were going to win by 50. Hopefully the results are the same.
Yea I’m definitely the child in this scenario. You’re right, saying the list had no credibility was a bit strong, and I realize covering all the teams in the SEC can be difficult, but don’t call me a fan boy. I watch a lot of college football, and when I say Josh Allen deserves to be on this list, it’s based off real evaluations. Not blind devotion to my team.
A condescending comment from a sports writer who thinks he’s way smarter than he actually is? Absolutely predictable. Anyway, Josh Allen is tied for the league lead in sacks and is the highest graded edge defender in the SEC according to Pro Football Focus. He’s also starting to get chatter about being a first round pick, thanks to his borderline All-American (definitely All-SEC) season that he’s having.
This list has no credibility with the omission of Josh Allen. Absolutely ridiculous.
@Vehemon I don’t think that’s at all what he was “getting at”. He said very clearly what he meant which is that he felt/feels Kentucky wasn’t supposed to win the game against South Carolina.
Really great read. I’ve said it before. Johnson doesn’t pass the eye test, but he’s just a good quarterback. It’s hard to explain but if you watch him week in and week out you get it.
Barstool sports is very entertaining and it’s growing by the minute. The only time people who don’t follow barstool hear things about them is when someone tries to come after them and show them in a negative light. You don’t know anything about barstool or the people that work for them. You’re just jumping on the being offended by everything craze that’s sweeping the nation.
Kentucky fans aren’t surprised by this team at all. We were never “supposed to lose” to a South Carolina team that we’ve beaten four years in a row now, that’s just what the talking heads said. And for some reason, the talking heads are still putting South Carolina ahead of UK.
I definitely noticed this on the third last play. The clock was stopped when the ball was flying over the end zone. Atleast two or three seconds premature. Tennessee got an extra play because of it.
Are you trying to say Mississippi State isn’t any good? Anyway, the point is that Kentucky has a better record than South Carolina and they beat them handily in Columbia. There’s just no logical reason to rank South Carolina ahead of Kentucky.
Yea I won’t fault you for picking MSU but I think these two teams are pretty evenly matched. With home field advantage in mind, I was expecting more of a 3 1/2 or 4 point spread. 10 seems very high. I know I’m biased, but I’m taking Kentucky +10 in a heartbeat here.
I, for the absolute life of me, cannot understand why people continue to rank South Carolina ahead of Kentucky.
Wow! Mississippi State -10?
Kentucky is also better than last year. It should be a pretty evenly matched game.
Thankyou for putting Kentucky ahead of South Carolina. For whatever reason, people keep hyping Jake Bentley and South Carolina. I just don’t get it. These power rankings look pretty good to me though.
Can someone please explain to me why the media keeps hyping South Carolina as a better team than Kentucky?
Stephen Johnson is a top 5 quarterback in the conference. I get it though, he just doesn’t pass the eye test. However, he wins football games. He makes timely big time throws and takes care of the football. He’s a better overall passer than he gets credit for. I’d have him ahead of a few guys they have in front of him in this ranking.
