Has he ever actually stated that in public? Not saying you're lying, I've just never read where he has said that before. But to answer your first question I don't see us winning 10 again next year. It would be awesome to do that in consecutive seasons, but I just think we have too much to replace on defense. Even with an easier schedule we're probably looking at winning 7 or 8, and given where we were 5 years ago I'll certainly take that. And ok you're not a fan of the way Barnhart handled the coaching search, and that's fine, but the results from that search have turned out pretty well so far right? We can't know what will happen in the next few years, but at least up to this point Stoops has the program in wayyyy better shape than it was when he got here. I agree that I would like to see recruiting improve more, especially keeping the higher ranked in-state kids home. Ok now on to Cal. Obviously, as a fan, winning championships is more important to me then seeing former players succeed at the next level. Although it does give me a reason to actually watch NBA games, and I do enjoy watching young men have success doing what they love doing. But it's been proven by both Cal and K that championships can be won with one and done players. Certainly experienced teams full of 3 or 4 year guys win most of the time, but only Kentucky and Duke consistently recruit one and done players. So the fact that 2 teams against a field of more than 300 have both won it all in the past 9 years shows that it can be done. And also other than K who has a better resume since Cal has been at Kentucky. 1 National championship, 4 final fours, 6 elite eights, 7 sweet sixteens, 5 conference champs, 6 conference tourny champs, 28 NCAA tourny wins (Most of any coach during this span), 30 wins per year average, 136-38 SEC record and only 8 total home losses (even though you weren't in attendance). And unlike K, Cal didn't lose in the first round to Lehigh or Mercer. Yes we should have won another championship in 2015, and Cal is not blameless for that, and yes we went to the NIT in 2013, but still I'm definitely not going to let one statement he made keep me from enjoying all this success. Anyway I know I'm not going to change your mind. I just wanted to give the other side, and it's fine if you disagree. I try not to tell other fans how to fan, except that I hope you give or sell those tickets to friends/family/any UK fan because I know people that would literally KILL to go watch the cats play even if Billy G was still the coach, and the opponent was Morehead State.
So Paris I've seen your disagreements with Barnhart as AD. You just touched on a couple of them when you said "Hiring a basketball coach on a napkin contract, and hiring a football coach less than a week after the final regular season game." That being said, let me ask you a hypothetical question. If you were the AD at Kentucky right now would you fire both Stoops and Calipari? Or is your issue simply that they were hired in the first place?
