Don't take up for Clemson as if it's some blue blood. That's embarrassing. Feel free to mock me for being a Gamecock fan, but that is just deflecting from the facts. Prior to 10 years ago Clemson had one national title and it was the only thing their fans would bring up. Now people act like they have won a national title every decade for the past 100 years. Something in that orange Kool-aid.
We have a lot of clueless fans like most fan bases. And from the sound of things Ryan didn't put in the work in the offseason to keep the job. It's why he was in Florida with Garcia recently. If it's true then it was Ryan's fault and fans will believe any rumor spread.
Clemson may have a winning program, but it's not the behemoth Alabama has become. The majority of Clemson's national success is recent. Alabama has consistently won for decades. I think it's hard to equate the two programs.
And Spurrier showed that we can recruit in and out of state. I think the hardest part will be patience. You could visibly see Muschamp going nowhere with the football program. He waa developing NFL players and great men, but a mediocre collefe football team. Beamer won't be in the East discussion for a bit. He has to be given so time. Sure, he'll pull upsets. I wouldn't be surprised for an overachieving first season and an underwhelming second one. That's where being a Gamecock fan 35+ years keeps me in check. Holtz went 0-11 his first year. Spurrier had multiple 6 win seasons. Carolina isn't a blue blood and that means it takes more time to build a program and its culture.
