You didn’t answer the question. Fact is (if the Freeze rumors are true), it’s a horrible look for auburn to have the same powers that dragged Harsin through the mud cozy up to freeze. It actually also looks desperate. Factor in the image of him getting paid huge $$$ to recruit against an ole miss program that’s just now climbing out of the issues his unethical (and illegal with regards to the escorts) decisions from 6 years ago it all around looks terrible. Freeze gave us some great moments in Oxford, and I hope he gets another big job provided he’s doing things the right way now, but it absolutely should not be in the SEC.

To be honest, looking at Jimbo and the dude at Michigan st, how do you give out a contract like that to anyone. Mississippi’s law should be one everywhere. If auburn wants to give a dude that’s never beaten a top-10 team 10 years let them have it

What I want to know is if any of these programs are actually reaching out to him with serious offers? We’re still citing Tennessee 2009 for him being a flight risk to greener pastures. Is auburn really that much better TODAY. Sure they have the resources and are desperate to win, but Tennessee, Miami, Florida State, Michigan, Penn State, Texas, Texas AM, Nebraska, Florida, etc. are case studies that those factors are irrelevant. What makes auburn think they are different?

Making >$9M a year in Oxford is a good gig. Especially when you look around at who you have to contend with the next couple years in that literally no team in the west outside of LSU is trending upwards. We know kiffin isn’t with us for the rest of his career, but I don’t think he leaves unless it’s a perfect opportunity. He has to know at this point if the “big one” doesn’t work out he goes back to an FAU type gig or working for ESPN, so why risk the momentum he has going to a dumpster fire in Auburn. People forget he’s already had the dream job at USC and it ended in embarrassing fashion, so why just jump right back in to that?

Everyone talks about his ceiling at ole miss, but what gets lost is we are going to a 12 team playoff. He’s got ole miss in a place to compete for a spot in that going forward, but if he falls short and wins 9-10 games, he’s making over 7 mil a year with a very happy fan base. At Auburn, the expectation will be top-12 or bust. Why walk into that unless you guaranteed a ridiculous amount of money knowing that if it doesn’t work out you’re never getting a blue blood HC offer again. At the end of the day, Auburn is a downgrade from a dream job (USC) that he got fired from. It’s amazing people that continue to say he’s gonna jump at the first big offer forget what happened the last time he did that
