If he really believes this, he will refuse to play bowl and championship games because it is dangerous for the players. He will also never increase his own pace of play. He should substitute more, also. That would reduce the numbers of plays each player runs, lessening their risk. Let's wait for any of that to happen. Then again, the championship game thing won't be a problem for a while.
I hope Auburn, Bama and UGA never do this.
Yeah, he was the good part. He set the all time Auburn total offense record and the QB set the season touchdown pass record his first year. tThe second year, he had a perfect season and a BCS trophy. The third year was not so great, only 8-5 with a mud-stomping of Virginia in the Chik Fil A Bowl. What a loser.
But you guys do great for a bunch of "smart kids". Seriously.
I'd rather hit the field and win. :-)
Success? In 14 seasons, Richt's teams have finished in the Top 10 five times and Top 25 12 of 14. BTW, as an Auburn fan, welcome to the SEC. I had my dounts but Mizzou had proven they belong here.
"Bad" coaches don't have the third highest winning percentage in the SEC. He is second for long term coaches (Malzahn only has three seasons), currently about 2 percentage points behind Saban. "The SEC, where 8-4 and a bowl game every year is a "bad" coach". :-)
Mark Richt... most schools would kill for 8-4, year in and out, in a conference as tough as the SEC. Among coaches with 10 seasons of more, he is #5 in winning percentage at .738. Saban is .757 and Meyer is .843. Richt is third in the SEC, but Malzahn only has 3 season. Also, I just like him. If I had a son in college ball, I would want him to play for a man like Mark Richt.
He's not "a" pimp, he's "the" pimp! haha As an Auburn fan, I am required to hate him, but no one can deny that he is one of the tops in the game. I hope he gets his mojo back next year.
I sure hope it goes that way. I would love to see Tennessee back where they belong, along with Florida and Arkansas.
I am an Auburn fan and alum and I am glad to see good trends back to power at Tennessee and Arkansas. I think the East is on the road back and that is good for the SEC. We are ONE conference "family" after all and even in this "down" year, clearly the best. That said, one week of good bowl performances doesn't overcome an entire season of stinking it up. At the end of the season, teams from the West were ranked 1, 7, 9, 19 and 23, while the East was 13 and 16. The bowl games won't change that much, if they even rework the Top 25. I don't know, do they put out a final list now that we have the playoff? Yes, the East did well in the bowls but against lesser opponents than the West. Don't get me wrong, you represented well, but c'mon man! It reminds me of that week when some of the best ACC teams beat some of the worst SEC teams (Georgia excluded) and bragged about it ever since. I love Auburn first, state of Alabama second, SEC third! War Eagle!
"SEC could have only 3 teams in the top 25". We have to end up with fewer than three in the Top 10 first hahahaha I can't remember the last time the SEC only had three Top 25 teams and I am 48 years old. Which makes the "SEC best" argument even stronger. :-)
Hey SDS - re: the NFL draft. The SEC has lead the PAC every year since, at least, 2010 and the PAC has finished third to the ACC in those years.
Would you like to put $100 on that? :-) War Eagle.
I will say the same about Charlene Sumlin that I said about Saban , Miles and Malzahn.
I think I like Kathy Miles the most. She seems like a woman who would have married Les without the fame and money. Google her, she is the real deal. Same thing for Saban and Malzahn. To the rest, I say, "Stay famous, my friend"... and rich!
There is just as real a chance that monkeys will fly out of my butt.
After his plan to kill the Gus Bus through rule changes failed, I can't wait to see what he does. Miles is the ONLY SEC coach to combat the up-tempo offenses and even Ole Miss hung 30+ on him. He did handle Auburn and A&M well, but the LSU game was early in the season for Gus and Nick. Play that game three or four weeks later, who knows what happens? Funny that Miles wasn't crying and bitching (like Saban and Bieliema) about how unfair and unsafe Gus's offense was during the off season.
Good. After Jeremy hangs 20-30 on the Hogs, Marshal can hang 20-30 on them. Bwahahahahaha!
So, a trip to media days, where Marshall could establish his Heisman bid, is something you think he DIDN'T want? All that attention and glory? Really? Thanks for letting us know, so far in advance, that we can ignore your columns this season.
Define "accountable" and "slap on the wrist". He is already not starting. How many plays should he sit out? Games? Give something concrete and measurable or shut your pie-hole.
Arguments aside, just LOOK at that list and be proud of the SEC. Picking 10 is incredibly difficult. My Auburn first, then my state, then my conference. Go SEC!
Clearly better than Dixon. War Eagle!
Trent was, clearly, one of the best, but you DO have a point about Deuce. War Eagle!
TJ at #10? What idiot put him three spots down from Dixon? How does Dixon beat Ronnie Brown? Yes, his stats were higher, but he was ALL they had, while Brown split time with Cadillac. War Eagle!
Funny that Les Miles has no problem with the HUNH. He has figured out how to stop it. In 2011, he beat Oregon (21 pts) and Auburn (10 pts) In 2012, he beat Auburn (10 pts), A&M (19 pts) and Ole Miss (35 pts). OK, he didn't exactly stop Ole Miss. In 2013, Auburn scored 21 and A&M 10. Ole Miss won, but only scored 27 to LSU's 24.. The Mad Hatter has figured it out. Perhaps the coaches in T-town and Arkansas should study some LSU film?
