Mullen left good personnel in place - they beat ole Coach Petrino with INTERIM coaches. Honestly 2nd or more likely 3rd isn't so far out but it would depend on a LOT of factors.
And he didn't know about those phone calls either, I assume. He'd have a job right now at Ole Miss if it weren't for his lack of character - which Bjork stubbornly defended to the end. Marketing those values is out the window with future jobs now!
IMHO, the extension was more a show of confidence for boosters and potential recruits by the powers that be. They couldn't not do it honestly, but nothing that contract says can evade a show-cause if the NCAA orders it.
LOIC and violation of HC legislation mean the NCAA doesn't think he was totally innocent one way or another. He still gets his "day in court", but those aren't exactly traffic warnings.
They probably won't get the death penalty, but serious cuts in scholarships, recruiting, and post-season bans, and possible show-causes with LOIC and head coach legislation could be really deep.
Not sure quitting on the field was the problem - "he owe me" leaves a lot to be desired upstairs from a college educated person...
The Nkemdiches you mean? Denzel wound up in the ICU twice and his bro that got drafted (the window guy) was Robert. Good athletes, but missing some prudence to say the least!
With all due respect, I know plenty of TSUN graduates who speak perfectly good English. Miller's "he owe me" is all on him!
Likely Bama and Georgia - they have tons more clout. Agreed though - I doubt anyone but Ole Miss is going down. Even is the charge related to Lewis is mitigated, there is still plenty of other stuff on the books to justify LOIC and head coach violation.
