Per the dawgnation site, he said that 'communication was way off; I didn't feel like a priority any more.' Now, maybe kirby and staff dropped the ball (very unlike them if true); but more likely this guy is a prima donna who's hungry for attention. Seems to me that once you're committed, you should understand staff is going to focus on finding more guys. Some say flips and the portal make recruiting less important. I think it's just the opposite. Programs like UGA (and 'bama) can absorb these losses because they're relentlessly bringing in other guys who are just as good.
I think it's a great hire. Lots of issues with any candidate, for this job. Nobody is qualified to replace Saban. No one should expect the next coach to be as good. Wish him well, up to a point, of course.
Nothing but respect from this 'dawg for Coach Saban. There are pluses and minuses for any name mentioned, but I'll put my money on Dan Lanning as his successor.
So glad he got healthy and was able to flash his true talent late in the season and the OB. Truly a great young man and a great 'dawg.
Right. When "blue chip recruits" read the tea leaves and realize they're gonna struggle to get playing time, they move on. Understandable. Kirby said as much. But what does that say about the talent behind them? I'd never seriously predict that any team will win the Natty... too many variables... but UGA won't be hurting for talent.
'Journalists' who talk about the recruit rankings should take the time to read the details about how the average rating is calculated. It's more complex math than I really understand, but does take volume into account. If a team signed the #1 prospect, and no one else, they'd have the highest average rating in the country. Uga signed 19 of the top 200 players in the nation per 24/7 composite, OSU signed 9. Not really that close.
I guess I should appreciate any dawgs' press. But really, the #285 prospect in the country putting UGA in his top 5, a year from early signing day, is just not news.
Raiola will be looking for a new school 11 months from now. UGA might give him a look, or might not.
I hope not too, but of course have no idea. He's really in a pretty good spot; probably QB2 for 2024 and in a good position to start in '25, if he has the goods.
"He did not see the field this season for Georgia and will depart Athens with three career tackles." Huh? Pretty sure he played in several games this year, and had at least a few tackles against 'bama in the SECCG. Says he played with the best players, coaches and fan base. Yeah, I'd opt out of that situation soon as possible! Cash and depth charts talk. Good Luck Xavian!
He was exciting and had burst. But man I held my breath every time the ball came down to him. Ball security seemed an issue. Thanks for the memories and good luck!
Glad to see Brock acknowledge his degree as part of his farewell tweet. I'm sure he'll be successful whatever he decides to do next.
I haven't watched Judkins play a lot until last week against us, and I thought he was extremely slow to hit the hole. Seemed like he had taken patience to the extreme. And 89 yards on 25 touches is not especially productive. But, nothing against him, he's obviously a good back but didn't look like one against the dawgs.
Wanted to comment, but you covered it. DGD.
Carson Beck: 2462 yards; 73% completion; 9.4 YPA; 166.2 rating. Brady Cook: 2259 yards; 69.8%; 9.3 YPA; 166.2 rating.
I love a positive review of my Dawgs, but really, this seems written by someone who perused the stat sheet and didn't watch the game. Another pretty good, not great performance by UGA.
I loves to hate me some gators as much as the next dawg... but it's unrealistic to "demand" that they beat the #11 team in the nation, when they're not even earning a single vote in the rankings. Those 20 years of home wins vs TN have nothing to do with the coaches and players on the field Saturday. A win would be huge for Florida, but I think if they show up, play competent football and lose, say 31-24, it's a good day for them.
"But the first month is about style points,"... uh, it's really not. Do you think the "committee" is gonna care, in December, if UGA beat Ball St. by 40 or 60? Such a stupid take.
I'm not seriously second-guessing CKS, but just a thought: I'd rather have seen us leave the O-line starters in later in the game and try to establish some momentum running the ball, than giving the 2 backups some junk throws. (not running up the score, just one good drive dominated by running). Rushing game concerns me but it's so hard to judge anything against over-matched opponents. I've grown to hate these non-competitive games. Looking forward to getting into SEC play.
Do you really not know why we're playing Ball St today instead of Oklahoma, or do you just choose to ignore the truth?
I heard the interview, and it seemed to me that you (Hayes) were scared to ask the question you wanted to ask and that you've been screaming about for two weeks; you asked some vague question about the 'value of bench players', and Kirby had to try to figure out what you were trying to ask. He literally asked you, "what is this question about?" And then he addressed the issues more deeply than you had dared ask about. Lame.
Hayes is on the radio a lot here in Jax. I think all he's talked about for the last 2 weeks is the off-field "crisis" at UGA (speeding issues). He's absolutely obsessed with it. I don't mind a little criticism of the program, but it's become so repetitive I just have to shut him off.
Read on dawgnation that he was unhappy with playing time/rotation (which might figure into friction with the coaching staff). Like you say, next man up. We don't need guys who don't want to be here. With so much talent vying for PT, we can probably brace ourselves for several more 'surprises' over the next 2 weeks. The ones who stick it out will be champions. Go Dawgs!
Just for the record, UGA already has commitments from the #3 and #4 safeties in the '24 class, so adding Filsaime was probably not likely. Nevertheless, it is a great pickup for UF; gives them 4 top-100 players (per 247 composite) for '24, which is already twice what they had in '23.
