You're going to judge him by his lone start with a depleted roster that had 21 opt outs plus injuries? Last year's O-Line had good stats because AR could evade the pass rush.
Cardale Jones was getting second team reps all season. Braxton Miller was injured in Fall camp. JT Barrett was the starter until the Michigan game.
Even if JD doesn't play, the Gator Defense can't stop anyone. I'd be concerned about playing JD too soon and causing more long-term problems. Or maybe the concussion wasn't so bad that he would get cleared?
Quick turnaround for Norvell? I'll have to check out those articles. I saw a post where Norvell has only played ranked opponents 17% of the time. Cristobal only 7% of the time, and Napier 50% of his opponents have been ranked. It's too bad casuals will try to compare records as if there's no context, because Napier's path is a lot tougher.
I remember him being a great practice QB at UF. He looked to take the job in '18 if not for a broken foot. Mullen didn't want to promote Trask in '19 for the way Franks closed out the '18 season is the way that I interpreted it.
Mattmd2, not sure if you're referring to the average class ranking or the average player ranking in his classes. Mullen never had a class with an average player rating higher than 90.77. Napier's first, transition class was 88.88, however, '23 was 92.03 and his '24 class is 92.58.
Exactly, Napier and his staff have turned HS players ranked #103, 134, 244, and 305 (at the OL position) into NFL draft players. The Louisiana Cajuns did not have an OL player drafted for 22 years until Napier developed/recruited them.
Bluechips are 4 and 5* right? He brought 2 from ULL last year and signed 1 freshman and 3 transfer OL Bluechipers this year. They still need to step up the recruiting on the OL, agreed.
I remember the nagging high school injury that he re-injured against USF in 2021. Other than that, what makes you say he's made of glass? He took some tough hits and kept playing.
Would you pass up more millions than NIL would bring? He's also thinking about changing his family's legacy. I hope he comes back AND shows improvement...that could turn into Gainesville legendary status.
Napier's first two recruiting classes are already better than Norvell who has had a head start. I was expecting a blowout FSU win based on how their last 4 games resulted, but I forget they play in the ACC and the Gators were the best offense they have played this season.
Good game and nice turnaround for Norvell. I think history shows the next recruiting class ('24) gets a bump for the winner of this rivalry game. Do you think Verse, Travis, Wilson, and Benson are returning or going pro?
At least we have a lot of underclassmen getting game experience in the SEC this year.
Looks like a good get. Patience, vision, and speed.
This guy plays like one of my created players in NCAA 14. Speed kills
Great pursuit and love the hype after each tackle. Also read he's a top wrestler in the state.
