Bama fired Bill Curry after he won the SEC, went 10-1 in the reg season and was ranked 7th. They bounced through 4 coaches and 18 years thinking they could do better. Throwing out someone who is successful has worked out even worse with other programs, who never find their saban. Miles is the best coach LSU has ever had, do you just assume someone else is better?
Nick Saban has a hair over 800 pct in his time in the SEC and 761 for his career. If Miles is at 780 the difference is tiny.
Keep in mind Nick Saban, SEC coaching god has a hair over 80% win record in the SEC and about 76% over his career. I doubt Les Miles is worse than second in win pct in the SEC , has nat. championship rings on his finger and has fielded a good team year after year. Take Bama out of the picture and he probably has another championship or two.
We have not done too well against the b1G the last two years, lots of upset losses and if you want to talk about schedules , we have a lot of iffy ones too. Georgia's signature win is 9 to 6 over Mizzou... 2 ranked opponents, Bama and Fla and got blown out by both. Missouri's schedule was even lighter and neither team still did really well.
Good article until the last line, the side happiest about the early signing period are the schools pulling these stunts. They would have players signed and locked up BEFORE the coaching switches even begin.
If there is one thing I don't like it is that Alabama over recruits, knowing half these kids will never start a game. Dee Hart was undersized for Alabama but would have been a good fit and started at many other programs he received offers from. Staff who have left have revealed they will take players if they know a rival wants them badly, just to weaken the opponent. They know they don't fit but will promise the moon to sign them.
You don't understand the concept of competition ehhh? Playing opponents on your own level makes you competetive. Beating up the smallest kid on the block just makes you a bully and you certainly shouldn't sit around patting each other on the back and making up excuses for it.
These teams existed in some cases before the SEC teams so the arguement that they would collapse without these games is ridiculous. The other major conferences don't put on the training wheels for a week, they play actual opponents with a decent chance of beating them. The SEC teams doing this should all drop in the polls this week every year, no doubt about it.
