Officiating seem to have a substantive role in the outcome of the game. To wit: 1. Wade's ejection for targeting. (Clemson exploits his replacement and scores a TD) 2. Dobbin's incomplete pass. He took two steps into the endzone, fell on the ball, slightly dislodging it but never losing control. The ball crossed the plane in receiver's possession. (OSU scores field goal) 3. The Clemson pass reception, fumble, and return for OSU TD. (TD reversed) 4. The OSU personal foul of roughing the kicker versus running into the kicker. The kicker rolled into the rusher making contact which would have been incidental. (Clemson got the ball back and scores) OSU did not play a perfect game. But these calls not only reversed touch downs, they changed momentum. OSU was the more dominant team Saturday. You'd expect the more dominant team to win and officiating to be less central to the outcome.
