Been awhile since last visited the grove. Excited to go back!
SEC higher ups have made it very clear that A&M's interests and opinions are very low on the totem pole
First, the Texas Administration 10 years ago is not what it is now. The ignorance of Dodds and company is what put Texas and the Big 12 where they are now. Secondly, Yes, Texas has been trying to get out of the big 12 for some time. They always flirted with the PAC, but never gained ground. When the Big 12 was coming together in the 90's, Texas legislature threatened to withhold state funding for BOTH Texas and Texas A&M if Baylor and Tech were not allowed in. A&M had always been interested in the SEC even back then, and OU has had thoughts about it for awhile. When it came to realignment in 2011, Dodds wanted LHN, which was a bonehead decision. The Big 12 brings in half the money the SEC brings, and Texas/OU know that. The current administration understands where Texas stands in today's college football. Which is why you are seeing this move. And it's not because "Texas needs the SEC". Texas "wants" the SEC. Why not? More money, and with NIL, that's a HUGE factor in making this move. I don't think this happens 3 years ago if it could have. Dodds' decisions understandably left a sour taste in Missouri and Aggy mouths, but I think I speak for Texas fans when we say we are very glad that administration is gone.
Player development has been godawful. Hopefully that changes with new hires, but guess we will find out.
Be careful, this is all a ploy to get you in their male cheearleading cult.
Being independent would be a terrible move for Texas. Moving to the SEC puts more money in Texas' pockets, as well as the SEC's.
I loathe OU but I've always liked this piece of your school's history. Really cool.
The horns down thing is funny to us. This was not a UT move, but a big 12 decision to try and make Texas happy. Our players got flagged 8 years ago for holstering the guns against tech and okie state. Give me horns down all day every day. I love it!
The last paragraph answers your question above. It's all about the $$. That trumps geo location every time
Doesn't make sense to me either. I would think Miss. State and Ole miss?
I guess you're not too caught up to speed on what Chris Beard has done already...
Which is why they are getting rid of their private network and willing to be equal to make this move.
Just like I do with any Aggies, I'll emulate the SEC and ignore them.
Forgiveness from who? Yes, the LHN will be completely gone, and most horns fans are very happy about that (so is ESPN).
The deal would be completely renegotiated. The pitiful LHN would dissolve with SEC Network taking over. And no I'm not wrong. SEC schools lose nothing from this move. They each will see around $10mil/year. My source? Your precious Finebaum (and literally every other news outlet reporting on this).
Look, it’s no secret we aren’t wanted by a majority of y’all. Whatever. I don’t care if you hate us. But so many of y’all are so behind or completely off the mark on this. This is all amount $$$. The NIL has changed everything whether we like it or not. College football is not the same darling we’ve come to know and love. Sure, we’ve had arguably the worst decade of our program history. You can laugh at that all you want, but you’ll be happy when your school is raking in $10+ million thanks to OU and Texas coming to town. Call it arrogance or what not, but everyone knows that’s a fact. The horns have been mediocre for 10 years, but they sit at the top of the list for most valuable programs year in and year out. OU sits at like 5 or 6? It’s inevitable at this point with the college football is going. So Aggies, big brother is back. Get used to it.
