Go to the Gators Summer practices, you will hear the "n word" blasted from the practice field speakers every few seconds. I imagine if you go into the locker room you will also hear the word thrown around quite freely.
Have you heard of the concept of prior restraint? He made a comment, and is being punished for it. The effect of this will be that others will not make that comment as they know they will be punished for it.
