In 1976, I sent Coach Dooley a hand drawn illustration detailing how the team would look dressed out in the red helmet and white jersey combined with new RED BRITCHES for road games only. In reply, he sent me a letter that I now have framed. In that letter he assured me that my idea would be given much thought. The rest of the story is a small piece of UGA football history.

I have been a big fan of the black jersey since the Auburn game of 2007. I purchased one of the game worn team jerseys at the UGA Bookstore after Coach Richt dumped them and the notorious black helmets off for public sale. I thought that we would never see them again. Thank you Coach Kirby Smart for bringing back the black alternate home jersey. That uniform creates the best balance of our historic school colors better than any the team has ever worn, and by the way, thank you for keeping Coach Dooley's red helmet unblemished. It is perfect just the way he created it.
I've been praying for Devon Gales since he failed to rise following that play. I want to thank Coach Richt, our football team. The University of Georgia, and the Dawg Nation, for their outpouring of support for this young man. Let's keep our support and prayers going until he regains full use of his legs again. To the best of my knowledge, this is the worst, on field, injury involving UGA since the injury to Richard Von Gammon in1897. I've never been more proud to be a Georgia Bulldog.
Brett Weisband, I loved your post, especially that last paragraph. This Oline deserves all the praise that can be placed upon it, and I'm so happy to see Kolton Houston being listed among those Mawl Dawgs up front.
The only thing that I think should never change is that glorious red helmet. It goes perfectly fine with the black jersey and real silver britches, and makes for perfect balance of the schools red and black color scheme. As for the red britches, I have always thought that they made the best looking road uniforms that UGA has ever worn; however, black numbers are essential on that white jersey. It never hurts to change things up now and then. After all, variety is the spice of life.
