LSU doesn’t have a rivalry game? That's like saying UGA doesn't have a rivalry game with Auburn. LSU and Ole Miss have had a heated rivalry since the 1890s. The Rebels have their in-state rivals Mississippi State, but that's more of a back-and-forth family feud. Cheers of “Go to hell LSU” are not uncommon at Ole Miss games regardless of the opponent on the field.
This schedule makes some sense. LSU doesn't have a rivalry? Certainly not in state, but all of you East fans may not realize the history and feuding between Ole Miss and LSU. While the Rebels want the state bragging rights of winning the Egg Bowl, their rivalry with Mississippi State is more of a back-and-forth family squabble. But for years "Go to hell LSU" was shouted at every Ole Miss game regardless of the opponent on the field (not sure if that's still a practice). And the feelings go both ways. And then there's Bama. While most other teams take their bye week before playing Alabama, for quite some time, UA takes its bye week before LSU. Sure, the hatred has intensified since King Saban arrived, and the W-L columns are lopsided, but this game annually provides some of the biggest TV numbers and revenue. And there's always been a border war going on with Texas, especially A&M. For decades the Aggies have been a comparable rival and was the last game of the season.
The Gators are on their way up. Napier and the team are going to turn the corner and get to the top of the East again. Two years.
Come on! Doesn't UF play Petty every home game? Would Gators sing Sweet Home Alabama before the fourth quarter if they were in Tuscaloosa? You think Bama would ask for the visiting team to quietly observe their tradition of a sing-along during the lead in to the fourth quarter. Quit whining.
Thankfully I haven't had to live vicariously because LSU has been overall pretty good over the last couple of decades. I just want to see UT beat UA to make this supposed "rivalry" legitimate.
Wow, RonMexico1 - "corn dog stadium"? That joke came out about the same year Tennessee last beat Bama. You're like a worn out, overplayed Geico caveman commercial (also came out at that time). It was mildly humorous when it started over 15 years ago, not so much anymore.
Not a surprise today. But how real are the Vols? 2006 is the last time UT topped Bama. So long ago that I had to google it. Bush/Cheney Whitehouse. Youtube was only 1 year old. Dang! Come on Rocky Top!!! BEAT ALABAMA!
My favorite response in this whole thread CrankE
"Get a spine coward"? Calm down PSaban. You've got nothing to lose - if LSU wins, you say "I told you so, Auburn sucks". If LSU loses, you say "LSU AND Auburn suck." We really don't care about your prediction. I've been going to/watching LSUvAuburn games for several decades. This is the one game of nearly every season where the odds are off, and the rankings don't matter. That's why they play the game, and what makes college football exciting.
Run-first "duel threat" QBs are always found out after a year or two of excitement. Daniels had his freshman year to shine. The best QBs are always pass-first and have the wheels to run when necessary or by design. But with the current O-line, Daniels' feet are the only thing that kept his head attached to his shoulders.
I wish Kelly showed some of the frustration and emotion in the post game presser like he did during his F-bomb outbursts during the game. I'd feel like he's more invested emotionally with the fans and LSU, rather than just showing up in the SEC to see if he can finish off his career with a championship.
It was like watching a playground football game - no coaching, and the one guy who has the ball always keeps it and is running for his life. Daniels held the ball too long, tucked it way too often, and seemed uncertain when attempting to pass. With no O line, it's understandable why they couldn't keep Myles Brennan/he couldn't start. And the only reason LSU could get downfield on that last drive is that FSU was rushing three.
Denbrock's offense was completely unprepared and poorly coached. No line (which we knew), no creativity, a run-first,pass-poor washed up QB. It was the Miles/Cameron worst days all over again. Bad coaching in all aspects of the game. The last drives looked good because the O line only had to block three rushers. And where was the D?!? Can't even talk about the special teams.
I don't think Daniels will be able to handle the defenses that he'll be up against in the second half of the season... if he's still starting. Unless he's been seriously coached up over the last month or two, he's going to be scrambling for his life, throwing in the dirt, or chucking interceptions. These aren't Kent State and Pac12 Ds. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not convinced with what we've been able to see and hear so far.
Oops - forgot to mention that no-one on earth has deeper pockets than Texas alumni. NIL$$$$$$$ > "depth chart"
I'm laughing and smiling ear to ear that we get to watch football! Starting the season, win or lose, is waaayyyy better than not starting at all.
...and you aren't funny. Any new stuff little troll?
I think you're right. What a whacked season to try to orient all these freshmen and sophomores with only three starters.
You quitter. Chase had a good reason, you're just a sore loser. I hope you pull a Chase and move on from commenting here for a year or two.
I guess we'll see what the future holds. But looking back, I sure have enjoyed seeing LSU kick UGA's butt by 20+ points the past two seasons - with and without Brady. And winning 3 national championships in the last 17 years has been kind of fun too. Geaux Tigers.
