RonMexico1, Please grow up or get off the threads. Every year I see your name attached to stupid putdowns to others. Your comments don't even support a team, just degrading others for no reason. What is your point of posting negatively to others all of the time? I know I am teeing you up to say something about me jerking off to pictures of my mother or father so go right ahead. Let's see what kind of immature creativity you have when called out.
Arkansas lost 4 different players in the secondary last year due to season ending injuries after already losing two starters, Joe Foucha and Gregory Brooks transfered and started for LSU prior to 2022 season. We had two freshmen receivers asked to move to Corner to make up the depth. The fact that we had no secondary and were still competitive in the SEC says a lot about this offense. The transfer portal has been a blessing for Arkansas secondary this offseason and will be much improved. I agree with your crystal ball with the exception that Arkansas beats Florida in the swamp after coming off a bye week and Florida getting their butt's kicked by Georgia the week prior. If the offensive line can keep KJ upright and make lanes for the stable of talented RB's, the hogs will be sneaky good.
Why should TN be above everyone else? Because they just had their first double digit win since 2003?
Arkansas lost 4 games by less than 3 points in 2022 with an opportunity to win each of those games but did not; A&M, LSU, Missouri, and (gulp) Liberty. Outside of Bama, LSU, and Georgia, who isn't going to be middle of the road in the SEC? Don't say TN just because they had a double digit win season for the first time in forever. Don't say A&M just because they can afford to out bid every player. Did Josh Heupel hit his ceiling if TN doesn't repeat their great 11 win season in 2023? Florida hasn't done anything significant in a long time, Kentucky could win the east and still not get recognition over Georgia. The only other certainty in the SEC, is that Vanderbilt will be at the bottom. Every other SEC team has the potential to have a great season or be a middle of the road SEC team each year. You could ask this same question about each team, each year. We all have SEC pride in our schools being better than the others, and it does just mean more. Arkansas could have easily had a 10 win season and this article would never have been written.
I agree. KJ would benefit big time to play his senior year. Catalon will return as well to get his best draft pick by playing his senior year. I believe that Briles and Odum stick around one more year as well. With Rocket coming back and a solid Oline in the making, along with several serious dudes playing for NFL money, Hogs will be much better. Pittman learned a lot this season.
Hogs will be focused and hungry for a beat down on Auburn. Our secondary will be healthier than it has been since All American Catalon got season ending injury in game 1. That's not saying much, but will definitely be a big upgrade with Slusher back than most people have seen all season. Arkansas will score early and often and never look back. This will be the game that Auburn quits and Harsin is finally let go because of the embarrassment that occurs in JHS this Saturday. Hogs 42-24!
Nothing is mentioned about the return of All American Jalen Catalon at Free Safety. Catalon's presence on the field makes a difference. He tried to play with a broken arm and bad shoulder for the first half of the season and was clearly not as good as his Freshman year. He is a difference maker on defense and there is validity to his Freshman All American status. Hogs will be good this year and the rest of the SEC is just not accustomed to the hogs being legit after a decade of shenanigans. We will know after week 2 where we stand in the conference. Week 1 has the same feel as before the Texas game last year. Cincinnati won't know what hit them!
Rookie of the year odds for Treylon are +700 right now. There is value in that bet with how the Titans are going to utilize him on day 1! Treylon will be a star immediately. If Arkansas had even a semi decent Oline during his Freshman and Sophomore years, Titans fans would already know who he is and know they got the overall best receiver in the draft. His 40 time in the combine brought skepticism, but if you watched him outrun the entire Alabama secondary, then you would know he can fly. I can't wait to watch him play on Sundays!
DB, Latavious Brini, transferred to Arkansas from Georgia where he was a starter last year, and LB, Drew Sanders transferred from Alabama. Both transfers are big additions and not mentioned.
So thankful it's Auburn! As a hog fan, we have endured a decade of embarrassment off of the field which translated to on the field embarrassment. Have fun in the basement War Eagle fans, you are going to be there for a few years.
No way those LB's are opting out. They are all three homegrown diehard HOGS! Pool is a Dallas boy, but a known HOG fan all is life. I don't think Burks will opt out either. Too much heart and soul in this Pittman team. They are going to finish what they started this amazing season!
This is the SEC West and unless a team is worthless like Vandy in the East this year and the way Arkansas has been in recent years, then there is always a chance for an upset. Arkansas is not a push over and one pick six and fumble recovery away from an upset on Saturday! Bring on the rat poison and keep showing the stats from Arkansas and Bama from the past decade.
Arkansas dominates this game. Alabama's offensive line last week was without their two centers and had to move their entire Oline around to accommodate. This was an issue with Alabama and not a reflection on LSU's defensive prowess. Arkansas is healthy on the Oline and will have another big running game. Burkes will continue to get multiple touches and show his freak athletic talent that continues to go under the radar on a national level. LSU is done for the year and ready for it to be over. If LSU had won against Bama last week, then things would be different, but they didn't and that was their peak for the season. Fans aren't fired up and it won't be as crazy as a normal Death Valley night game. The QB rotation strategy will flop as it always does in these types of games and neither QB will play well. LSU mails it in after the first quarter and Hogs win big sending LSU to its first losing season of the millennium. Hogs 35, LSU 10.
What nobody is talking about is the impact of All American Free Safety, Jalen Catalon, being out for the season with a shoulder injury. Catalon is a difference maker in the secondary with his ability to tackle in the open field and his ball hawking skills. His absence was definitely noticed in the Auburn game and I am concerned about his absence vs. State. Slusher is visibly not at the same skill level at safety as Catalon. However, Hogs are well rested and hungry for an SEC win at home. Hogs 34, MSU 28.
Compared to the strong depth at MSU? What lack of depth are you speaking about that isn't obviously different like the comparisons to GA and AL?
Bold Prediction: Ole Miss fans don't show up early like GA fans did last week (will still be getting their morning buzz on in the grove). Hogs dominate both lines of scrimmage. Corral throws his first pick of the season and is rattled for the remainder of the game. Ole Miss gets some explosive long TD's and keeps it a back and forth game till the end. Hogs win in OT and memories of the Hunter Heave haunt the home crowd.
His accuracy from last 5 games was 49% and he wants to be at a goal of 65%. That is a big improvement if he can pull it off. Nobody is doubting his run ability or arm strength, just his accuracy. My only concern is related to Mike Woods leaving. If KJ was dropping dimes in practice all this time, then I don't think MW would have transferred. Felipe Franks was really good; think of what he could have accomplished with a better Oline had he stayed this year.
I heard he would be back before Rice, just a sprain.
Tell yourself whatever you need to justify a phony win. One of the best days in recent Arkansas football was firing Chad Morris. Even better was when Gus hired him as the OC for Auburn.
“If”? Vols need to accept they were overrated and get back in line for the race to the middle of the West. Hogs win this year. TN is reeling and hogs are on the move and playing inspired. Hate to break it to you, but we don’t suck like we did with Morris and you can’t chalk us up as an automatic win. Vols were overrated and it’s time to accept that you aren’t that good.
Hogs went through 8 QB’s in 2 years! All of which could not make a practice team in the SEC. Franks will make a huge difference with a very talented receiver corps and backfield. Game changer! Hogs will upset at least 3 teams.
Upset city all season. Playing with nothing to lose and everything to gain. Well coached and talented key positions. We are underrated for obvious reasons but having a better QB will be the key that makes this team pull off some fun upsets.
