Clearly a shot at the ball. Defenders are taught to punch the ball. Although it was a little high, he made contact with the ball even though he hit the helmet too but if he hit the ball and the helmet, the helmet was in the way of the ball. I don't think a D1 player wants to risk being out for several weeks with a broken hand by punching someones facemask. Ive done it on purpose before in high school and it does not feel good lol
