I think "Finey" is off the mark. Harbaugh is perfect for Meeeshigan because he is what THEY want. They being the Michigan Administration and alumni base). They want a guy who THEY think builds "Michigan Men." They want a guy who they think incorporates modern socio-cultural norms into their program, I mean, they actually believe the athletes should run the rail road, they want to trumpet diversity and inclusion etc. And, Harbaugh enables that. He puts on his stupid 1950's glasses and plays to the nostalgia of the glory days of Shem vs. Woody. So, they love him. Michigan believes it is the anti-Ohio State and is not a "win at all costs" sort of program (or so they think...) and Harbaugh plays to that.
In re SEC QBs... I think Newman will do well at GA because they will have an OL to protect him and give him time. I'm always amazed that Trask has risen like he has but his rise just reinforces the fact that Mullen can coach QBs. Mond at A&M will disappoint (think they lose to ALA, AU and LSU) because they lack the OL needed to give him time AND he just doesn't have "it." He's a "good Ag" though, so lots of fans are just ready for him to move on, but respect that he's stuck with it and genuinely seems to care. I just wish he'd quit creating bulletin board material for others...
By way of background, love SDS, but this article Is just clickbait. Every administrator is now saying we are not going to play each other unless it’s a Meaningful bowl game. I just read a wandering disjointed article about a non-issue. A&M benefits in no way from playing Texas BUT FOR playing them post season. They are well on their way to redefining themselves in the “brave new world” of SEC membership, replete with built in name recognition opponents, increased revenue streams and media exposure. Texas has, seemingly, finally realized the paradigm shift and is no longer willing to be publicly embarrassed by letting A&M, direcly, or indirectly, know that they “want” the game. The only people pushing for the game these days seem to be journalists, with no connection to either university, who seem to think they can generate clicks by making a non-issue seem to be an issue. The Aggies have come to peace with the divorce and are happy with no significant other. Rather, they are just “dating around” between Bama, LSU and Auburn. Texas is still trying to find a prom date for Thanksgiving and neither TCU nor Tech is sexy enough to impress the parents. Now, if we can also just get journalists to stop trying to create an SEC rival for A&M we can “just be happy.” LSU is NOT our rival. There’s just no feeling there no matter. There’s more feeling/caring vs Bama and Auburn than LSU. But, they have each other... Cash the checks boys, just cash the checks...
