4 conference titles in 5 years and 4 9+win seasons in the span. Yup. Pretty good is a good way to sum them up the past 5 years lol.
I know this is an SEC page, and most everything posted has to do with P5, but I think you also have to look at how these games impact the G5 conference schools. These games, no matter there record for most of them, are really big for them and a big factor in recruiting.
I think thy need to call the Coleman's and get some milk shipped to Fayetville. They forgot that milk builds strong bones.
They are considerably improved. A lot of the problem last year, especially along the D-line, was depth. That issue, as of now, has been fixed with newcomers from the JUCO ranks, and development of returners. Not to mention, one of the best QBs from the non P5s
And it's something they tried there hardest to get out of doing.
Just to throw this out there for those who don't know, in the scientific world, a "tide" is a herd of elephants.
Just wear something with the A. Most folks wouldn't pay it a second glance lol
I would've though the Arkansas Tennessee game would be on this list since they're both coming off the best seasons they've had in a while, and have been media darlings all summer.
While he is correct that Arkansas State is more of the committee team, Mizzou better watch for McKisic. He is a serious home run threat and lines up everywhere
Work at ESPN, does that make Florida the place to go if you want a head coaching stint, then media, and get where you really want to coach at? That would make two coaches in a row doing it there. (Sorry for the broken text. Stupid phones)
I think saying Alex Collins sucks, is a very uneducated statement. He's been one the conferences most productive backs. Yes Jonathan Williams has been more productive this year, but Collins by no means sucks. I also believe that Darius Philon needs some recognition as one of the top players. He's been one of the best d-lineman all year.
Other than the fact that almost every state participates in an instate rivalry, whether it's conference or non, the players have expressed interest playing stAte. Mainly so they shut them up. It would be great for the state in my opinion.
Arkansas needs to bring back the old Texas rivalry. That was always a good rivalry game.
I wouldn't wish John L Smith on any school. That's just death sentencing there.
I agree. But I also think that the only way you can make most everybody happy, is every conference champ. You force the "independent" schools to either join a conference, form one, or you don't get a shot. That gives 11 (or 12 if the independents form) conferences. So you have 11 (or 12) automatic bids. Then you have the at large bids to make a 16 team playoff. Not gonna have too many complaints for that just because you'll have several teams in. Win your conference and there's no problem. Simple as that.
Do I believe that this should be targeting? No I don't. However, the rule reads that any force able blow to the neck or head is targeting. So by that rule, the right call was made. However, I think they should change this to if its with the crown of the head, or a lowered shoulder only. This should not be a penalty.
Not really sure how Gragg is a headline recruit after seeing him in play in person. He gives zero effort when the play doesn't involve him getting the ball. Also, as a TE in the Arkansas system, he's gonna need a good 40-50 lbs put on him before he can even think about being effective. Maybe they can do something with him in Fayetteville, otherwise, he's a wasted scholarship
Not when you're trying to validate that one conference is better than the other.
For those who say that the SEC hasn't been the most dominant conference, let's just say this. Last year the SEC was 7-2 in bowl games. The ACC, well they were 4-6. Since most want to bring up that the ACC did win the title last year, they were still mostly dominated in the post season.
I wouldn't expect the Tennessee Arkansas State game to be a complete blowout. Red Wolves are talented. Tennessee will pull it out though.
I think that if you have a degree (because many of these players do end up with some kind of degree by their jr year), then by all means, go ahead and jump into the pros. Otherwise stay your butt in college and get your degree. You never know when you're gonna have a career ending injury or if you'll even make a team.
