JT Augusta

Summer graduate in Communications from Georgia Regents University in Augusta, GA. GRU is a consolidation of Augusta State and MCG. ASU was known for a consistently good Division II Men's Basketball squad, and its Back-To-Back Division I National Championship Golf team. Big fan of SEC sports and, really, just plain sports. Go Jags!

I thought more than six teams would've reached 80% vax threshold at this point. I don't believe there will be COVID issues that mirror the extremes of last season. However, my gut says that a team or two will experience issues at some point that could impact the trajectory of the season. Example: Starting QB and star Safety are out for a key conference matchup.
As an LSU fan, would you like to see A&M become a consistent challenger in the SEC West? I think a better A&M would make for a better rivalry with LSU. With some modest history between the schools, recruiting, and proximity, I think LSU-A&M could grow into one of the conference's best rivalries.
If we created a list projecting where these jobs will rank in another 5-10 years, gotta think Texas A&M could crack the top 5. Aggies have everything to be a top 5 program in the SEC. However, everyone has said that since A&M joined the conference and its inaugural season has been the only one of note. As time goes on, it's hard to imagine A&M not finding its footing as an SEC power. Can't forget it took LSU about 30 years to become the giant it is now.
Agree completely. Tired of the talent argument with this team. Richt didn't recruit to Saban's level -- neither do most coaches -- but he consistently brought in top 10-15 recruiting classes. Lack of depth at key positions (e.g. O-Line), lack of player development (e.g. Lorenzo Carter), youth, and returning players adjusting to an entirely new coaching staff are more accurate answers for Georgia's struggles post-North Carolina. And another assessment that clarifies the debacle at Ole Miss is Chad Kelly's experience and hunger to put the FSU and Alabama games behind him, and the Rebels' size advantage at wide receiver. Dawgs need a few bigger WR's like the Rebels', and a few taller/more physical corners to help when they play teams with the Ole Miss' superior WR talent.
I think the UK brass needs to be even more patient with Mark Stoops. Yes, this will likely be his fourth season without a bowl, but if history is the best indicator of the future, Kentucky will never be a consistent contender in SEC football. That doesn't mean UK fans shouldn't expect a product that is competitive in every game and consistently makes bowl games -- Rich Brooks did that, and as a UGA fan, I never took the UK game lightly. Just looking at how well Stoops recruits is hard to ignore, and I'm not sure the next guy will have the same ability. UK football will continue to reap the benefits of Stoops' opening of the pipeline to Ohio, a state most SEC schools haven't tapped into. If Stoops doesn't show improvement by year 5 then I'll support his ousting. In my objective opinion, I think he deserves a fifth year. What do UK fans think?
North Dakota State will happily play the Razorbacks haha
What stood out to me the most is the bottom list of SEC HC's entering the 2006 season. Only one, Les Miles, is still an HC in the SEC program. Scary how much can change in only a decade. If not for a ton of last-minute backlash from LSU fans loyal to Miles, there would not be a single HC in the SEC with a double-digit tenure at their school.
"Life is about people, not rings. Rings collect dust." - wasn't paying attention and put down the wrong quote.
"Championships or not, there is little doubt that Richt did make his time at Georgia about the people involved." We don't know the context of this quote, and, honestly, it doesn't matter if we do. My high school coach was fired before my senior season. From what I remember, his parting words were along the lines of: "Play for your teammates, play for yourself, and represent your high school to the utmost ability." When your leaving behind people (UGA players) who looked to you as another father, it makes sense to leave them with words of wisdom that will impact their lives far past their short playing days. Even if UGA wins a national title in a few years, I'll always miss Coach Mark Richt.
Last time I checked, Saturday Down South is an opinion site, not one for spreading news coverage. I wrote for an opinion site a little over a year ago. The staff and I were responsible for writing engaging articles that either gave readers further insight into a sports topic being discussed in the news, or took a "newsworthy" viewpoint in a different direction than the mainstream (i.e. Iowa, Not Ohio State, is the Big Ten's Best Team and Here's Why). Hollis is simply painting the picture for UGA fans on how the Dawgs can make it back to Atlanta. I'm sure there are less-informed fans who appreciate this type of article. Congratulations for knowing more about your team's position than the casual fan. It's not all about news...sometimes it's about painting the picture.
