And what have they won in the last 60 years, including the run as of late...nothing. At the end of the day, not relevant.
Clearly last year's bowl games, respectively, proves that wrong. Neither team has been relevant in terms of competing for, or "in the mix" (as was stated) for championships for some time, which is how success is measured in this league (ask Mark Richt). That being the basis for argument, Ole Miss has been FAR less relevant for FAR longer than Tennessee. I believe the league is much better when the founding members of the SEC are competing for the title year in and year out, and it's great to see the success Coach Freeze has brought to Ole Miss, but until either school brings home some hardware, we can't be considered "relevant".
Heath Shuler was the QB in 1992, who indeed was a great college QB. Not sure I get the reference though - UT's last National Championship was 1998. Ole Miss last claimed a National Championship in 1962 (3 total), and last won the SEC in 1963 (6 total). So when was the last time Ole Miss was relevant and won anything...?
In regard to Tennessee's linebackers, that would be Jalen Reeves-Maybin...not Maybin-Reeves.
