Seriously. Every week the kid would play as well as any QB in the country and people would blame 1 over/underthrown pass for a loss. As if he was the one racking up drive-killing penalties and letting the opposing team's offense do just about anything it wanted.
I love the love fans of other teams have been showing the Hogs recently.
Maybe Richt should maintain some control of his players? If words are going to get him to commit a personal foul, then I would have my guys saying all sorts of things to him after every down and I would write a thank you note after the game for making my job that much easier.
Glad you're giving Arkansas the W, but man these are difficult to watch. Just standing side by side for a whole segment is going to be awkward for anyone but the best. How do you fix this? Talking over/splice in video clips that relate to whatever it is you're talking about. DMC comes up? Show one of an infinite number highlights of him at Arkansas. Mentioning Tech's air raid offense? Show a quick machine gun of touchdown passes -- this allows you to look less award (because neither of you seem to know what to do with your hands), do multiple takes, add/cut/replace parts that either don't sound good, or are simply incorrect, and ultimately puts a more professional product out there for us. SDS does a great job with branding and graphics, now carry that over to your video production.
Agreed. This whole list is based on the idea that there are no pre-season polls or rankings, if that is true, then the same things that kept Mizzou, Kentucky, and Tennessee off the list should have kept Stanford, Michigan State, Kansas State, Oregon and Arizona State off the list. And what kept Tennessee off the list? They beat Utah State convincingly. That is FAR more impressive than Stanford's win over UC Davis, a team that went 5-7 last year. Troll hard, SDS, troll hard.
How does MS State and Louisville end up below 4 teams that lost their openers? Why is UCLA way up at 16 considering how terrible they were against UVA? Hell. Clemson lost to UGA by as many points as Arkansas did to Auburn. So if that puts UGA #1, Auburn #5 and Clemson #23, shouldn't Arkansas be ranked 27th or "receiving votes"? Why is LSU below Ohio State? LSU's come from behind win was far more impressive than Ohio State's near loss to NAVY. And in terms of overall better starts, I don't see how Auburn is below Florida State. Auburn struggled in the 1st half, but they dominated in the second half, it was clear Arkansas didn't have much of a chance after the middle of the 3rd quarter. FSU, on the other hand, simply scraped by at the end, with a win that could have easily gone the other way. It's complete nonsense to have LOSING teams on a top 25 list that supposes pre-season polls don't exist.
Next we'll be forced to click through slideshows of the "25 Most Shocking Things Bret Bielema Has Said." It's bad enough the pop-up ads give my cell phone AIDS and random audio nobody asked for, now they are puking up articles like this? Why bother?
Bert loves to throw some red meat out there and watch people type furiously about his big mouth, but this isn't that. This is boiler plate, motivational coach-speak.
Yep. Their defense was shockingly bad last year, and the two players that kept them in games are gone. I just don't see them having anything close to the success they have seen over the last 2 years. I think the Aggies end up with 6 or 7 wins max, and Arkansas wont be one of them.
over*estimate. Where is the edit button?
Don't ever estimate TTU, their offense is good, but their secondary and run defense are both highly suspect. That string of losses came from teams who realized they can just run the ball on them, and they did. And if running the ball is what it takes to beat TTU, then I feel pretty good about our chances.
I also, just for the sake of S--- talking, want to say that the UGA game might be a toss up as well. UGA without Aaron Murray doesn't do much for me. I know they have a stacked backfield, but Murray was a game changer for UGA last year. We know Mark Richt can lose games, even with a talented roster, so losing several defensive starters, installing a new defense, and fielding a questionable secondary without a Murray leading the offense down the field are all factors that lead me to believe the Bulldogs are going to be a little let down with their season.
Exactly! Context is everything. Without any context those 9 losses look way worse than they actually were.
I'm not saying we won't have a rough season, but I think @Texas Tech, Ms State and Texas A&M are all wins. TTU: Can't stop the run. They will be able to score points on us through the air, but an effective rushing attack will allow Arkansas to control time of possession and slow down TTU's tempo. Texas A&M: Horrific defense, lost 3 (or 2?) defensive starters, and they won't have the Johnny Football/Mike Evans combo using witchcraft to score points. A woeful Arkansas team kept it close last year, we'll win this year. MS State: Again, a woeful Arkansas team took them to overtime, with even the slightest improvements on both sides of that ball, we win. Tossup: LSU. For reasons nobody can explain, Arkansas always plays LSU hard (or LSU plays down to us). LSU could be rebuilding, rather than reloading, this year and with some minor improvements we can win this one.
