It wasn't the only foul our team incurred no, and it's stupid to retaliate and lose your head like that because everyone knows it's always the one who retaliates who gets flagged. Sad but true. Guys who throw the first elbow, fist, whatever are rarely penalized. Not that it is right, no matter the situation. Unsportsmanlike conduct doesn't have a place in college ball.
There are quite a few of us Gator fans with sense (and class) and I will throw my 2 cents in and say I totally agree - there is NO place in college ball for this kind of nonsense. Heck, if I were coach, everyone who garnered a 15-yard personal foul for whatever reason, would be watching the rest of the game from the bench. Not the sidelines, the bench. If you aren't going to play like a good sport and win fair and square, you shouldn't be on the sidelines, much less on the field. I don't care how good you are otherwise.
As a Gator booster, I completely agree with everything you just said. Too many of our fans are spoiled. I for one, am sick of this "make it happen NOW" attitude so many college programs seem to have adapted. Give a coach a chance to BUILD or you'll never again see the likes of a Bear Bryant or (I hate to say it), a Bobby Bowden. Even Billy Donovan was given time to build his basketball fiefdom! Go Gators! Keep it going Coach Boom!
Both moves were so obviously intentional. And I'd bet dollars to donuts he either had this written for him or was "asked" to write it. Notice no signature to validate authenticity of any sort. And why would he Tweet, "Great win! Love the haters, keep em coming! #HailState" right after the game if he wasn't proud of the negative attention? His coaches and his athletic department should be proud. Not. Get this kid OUT of the SEC.
Which is a shame. If schools were fined for player actions, they might think twice about allowing their coaches to keep a guy like this on the field after more than one similar infraction!
If you don't think Les Miles didn't complain to the SEC after this game, you've got rocks in your head. And if he didn't, he isn't doing his job very well. If a Gator player did this, I'd want to see him benched. You have to win games withOUT this kind of unsportsmanlike conduct.
Makes you wonder how much you can trust any of these stats...
Wouldn't you just love to see PF's run on replay in the booth? Who knows, they might get it right for once. It's never the guy that actually caused it.
Well said David Nance. My thoughts exactly. Use it on the field & quit acting like a 2 year-old throwing a temper tantrum.
Sure it is. You act like a grown man and walk away. If you're going to let a little word-play taunt you into unsportsmanlike conduct, maybe you shouldn't be on the field. Next time his short fuse might cost his team a bigger game. Grow up and use your frustration to make better plays ON the field and maybe your team will win the next game Gurley. And this, coming from a Gator who was pulling for Georgia!
Love to see/hear about this kind of sportsmanship/respect amongst the players of opposing teams. Usually the media only highlights the nasty stuff.
Kaintcuck, I agree with you in the sense that NEITHER team should have been in a situation that brought the game to 3 OT's. And Cherokee04, if you read GodBlesstheSouth's post, he/she said he/she was looking at the play clock on the field. That could have been different than the play clock we saw on the TV and likely was. Forget the game clock. Either way - it's done and over. And yes, I'm a Gator fan, but trust me, if we had lost that game to KY, I wouldn't have been upset because they played a killer game. I will say however, that I think if the SEC was going to address this "clock" situation, they should have also addressed that missed personal foul call that should have had Meant ejected. They're so big (NCAA officials) on bad hits, but that one was a doozy. Missing a call for holding is one thing; it's hard to see how they missed that horrible late hit. I'm just glad K. Taylor got up and walked away. Good game KY. You have the rest of the SEC you can take things out on!
