This has the signs of backdoor commitment management. I think the goal here is to pickup 2 receivers in the top 30. UGA is looking for 4 this year with possibly a fifth if the receiver is really good. If things line up for uga then 3 of their wrs were at the opening. It would be a good win for the program regardless how I feel about commitment management. But if that is what this is better to happen now.
As i said previously he was an exciting player in college to watch. The luck factor... you can make a strong argument that his unwillingness to give up on any play gave him the ability to capitalize on luck. He created those situations. BUT the bad road Johnny went down didn't start after college. It started before that. Before college even. But the coaching staff did him no favors worrying more about wins then about helping a young man in need.
Why ask about the SEC championship... considering most of the national champions came from the sec you might as well ask that...
I am not sure. I think head coaches should be in the business of helping student athletes become men. That involves holding players accountable to their off field antics. They want to just party in school then do it without a scholarship
Additionally. .. a taller more athletic receiver has a much larger catch radius. Much easier to put it in places that a dB a good 7 inches shorter can't get to. That is one of the reasons the sec west had such great issues with tamu. Noone could match up in man coverage.
Not sure why you are comparing the receivers.... my logic is lobbing hail Mary's to taller more athletic receivers is not skill. Mike was awesome. Johnny was great about not giving up on plays. He had true grit.
This article is very accurate. Johnny's best characteristic... was never giving up on a play. Balls bouncing his way are luck. Mike Evans out jumping someone 5 inches shorter than him on a bomb is MIKE EVANS. It is not Skill on Johnny's part. He was exciting to watch play. But TAMU should be ashamed at not using the opportunity it had to discipline an obvious problem kid. Maybe if there was more leadership he wouldn't be where he is now.
UGA failed to sign a qb... yes. But they did not want to sign one. They didn't sign one so that the class of 2016 Jacob Eason knows that we are committed to him.
