You're right, I was one of those people who said Nick Saban would be four years and gone. I was very very wrong. I have no idea if he'll be gone at the end of the season. However, what I do believe, and my Auburn brothers and sisters need to understand this: Even if Nick Saban leaves, there will not be some meltdown, implosion, or shattering of the program in Tuscaloosa. Saban is very good at coaching, and building programs, and he's done both very well at Alabama. I'd imagine if he leaves Kirby Smart will take over as HC (even though it'd be his first Head Coaching experience). Smart knows the program, is a Saban protege, and will have everything in place to be successful. That being said, the biggest compliment I can give Nick Saban is that it will be a holiday for me the day he steps down as the Head Coach at Alabama.
I'm an Atheist, however, this kind of stuff really annoys me. There are serious issues in this country, and there are serious issues the FFR group could be working to resolve. University football teams, public or otherwise, having a team chaplain isn't one of them. If the teams required players to convert to Christianity, or go to church on Sundays, or anything like that, then it'd be a problem, but I highly doubt it's happening.
Enough to buy a new space bar, I hope.
I think Saban was right that the NFL should hold off completely until the college season is over, because it could be a huge distraction. I don't think it's a legitimate reason that UA lost to OSU, because Ohio State has to worry about the same problems. The thing that gets me, how can someone claim taht the SEC isn't a much more difficult challenge than the Big10, Pac12, or Big12? 9 of 14 SEC teams are probably going to be ranked in the preseason. However, Ohio State playing one highly ranked team and 2 low ranked teams is supposed to equate? Bullshit!
Yeah, BamaTime, you never find Bammers commenting on Auburn stories. Also, for what it's worth, I agree with Saban that the timing could take a player's focus away. However, wes10jones' point is also true, that Ohio State had the same distractions, as did Florida State and Oregon.
Everyone arguing on here whether or not a team is too high or low, have fun with the discussion, but don't forget it doesn't matter. Any team in the SEC, no matter their rank, and hype, before the season, will be in the playoffs if they go undefeated. So, don't get so worked up over this.
Do you feel embarrassed when Phyllis calls in? I'm not saying Tammy is better or worse, in fact, as an Auburn fan I wish she'd go away, I cringe when an Auburn fan sounds like this. I'm just asking because it's not like there aren't a bunch of redneck calls from Alabama supporting your team.
As someone who watched that game at the Auburn Student Center, I should let you know, that was a gut-punch loss for me too. War Eagle!
Wolfman did you watch the Auburn- Georgia game last year? That game doesn't boil down to one play. Auburn was beating Georgia thoroughly, up 20 points with ten minutes left, until Auburn began looking ahead to the Iron Bowl.
