This article seems to be written to question the seemingly contradictory statements given by Lingard when he transferred and now that he wants to play. I grew up in Deltona, which is right next door to Orange City. OC was the only place with restaurants and a movie theater when I was growing up and it was still a thunder dome. It’s a part of Florida that has an extremely high crime and drug rate. If I had to guess, Lingard’s statement regarding there being nothing for him there, was referring to escaping a place that is pretty depressed economically and spiritually for him. It was that way for me. I left at 17 and was terrified every time my choices struck out and forced me to return. I love my family that still lives there and I visit but never want to be stuck there. This article appeared to lead the reader to believe the kid is contradicting himself. I don’t believe he is. You can care about your family and want to see them while being terrified of being trapped in a pretty rough place.
