Sorry for the syntax errors. Phone being janky. I know how to spell know and how and maybe. Lol
Draft picks just like recruiting services. Not exactly an exact science, so the statistics for how many draft picks a school gets is not an accurate gage on how good they are as a program. You can look at the history of draft busts and how they were five star high school players and this and that. The truth is is is the individual player, his right choice of tge right situation and hiw he is developed by the right staff for him individually. Everyones story is singular. Everyone is developed and takes to the development according to maby, many factors along their journey. I am sick of hearing about five star prospects and number one draft picks. Key words are prospect and picks. Just because they are heralded or chosen does not mean they will be hall of famers. These website nerds that no nothing about the real grind of a football life should really look at the human aspect of the player and who and how he is coached throughout his time at a given school IT MATTERS more than some surface ranking because their 6'2 and run a 4.4.
Coach Pittman is just the medicine we needed! I've been arguing with some fair weather, so called hog fans and they are doing just like always. Already writing the death certificate for Pittman befire he even gets started. I coached the Toll kid all through pee wee for 5 years and besides all if the measurable, that dude has a heart and a love of football like Ive never seen. On top of that he is one of the toughest kids that we will ever have. He has the what it takes to be a Razorback and win or lose he will never yield.
You guys are still not understanding! I'm simply saying that coaching is more important than having 5 star recruits across yhe board and a good coach can develop and win with 3 star players. Yeah there can be a ceiling, but the most important factor is the right players that fit your system and they mix with each other. Chemistry, timing, desire, playcalling all of these factors can trump the mystical recruiting service rankings. Hiw else do you explain the UCFs and the App state and so on and so on. Its about the teams chemistry, mix of the right players in the right spots, coaching, play calling etc.. You dont have to have 5 stars to win. It helps to have great players from powerhouse high school programs, but recruiting rankings are based on size, speed and stats. Those things can be very misleading. Ever heard of a system QB? Thats what happens. He flourishes in a system. The same thing can happen in any position. You can have a system LB. Yes, if the defensive scheme is to funnel all runs to their star LB his stats will be out of this world and if hes 6'2" and weighs 235. all of a sudden hes a five star. Im just saying that uts very much more complicated than the recruiting services can really report. There are too many players to really scout. Just sayin.
Im no squirt little boy. I have a Master degree in education and have years of experience coaching. And yes you have to have some innate physical attributes in order to be competitive in sports, but football is a game of technique, footwork and mastery of the playbook. Its not all about speed and size. The reason those teams are great year in and year out is coaching and yeah some of those athletes are 4 and 5 star, but the reason that the teams you named off are good every year is they have the money for the best training facilities, the best coaches and the biggest stadiums. Alabama has won more championships than anyone else and they did a lot if that winning when bear bryant was there correct? Well then I remember many years of struggle for them and they were supposedly getting the best players, why? Terrible coaching. They didn't come back up until saban got there. Notre dame also struggled not long ago. Their prestige has never faltered. They were getting 5 star recruits, but doing nothing with them until they got coaching. U remember when Michigan struggled for several years and......coaching. So, maybe your too young to remember that. While mama was busy wiping your rear bama going 6 and 6 with a roster full of 4 and 5 star recruits while Mike Dubose attempted to coach them. Now go play some Halo, pick your nose and let the grown ups talk about Football.
Honestly BB got lucky with the terribly written contract. If you noticed when BB got here, he was firey, worked like a maniac and was full tilt razorback. By the time he left, he had put on a tremendous amount of weight, became complacent and didn't seem to care if we signed anyone or even cared to coach the second half of any major game we played. He just got lazy, so we didnt waste any time getting rid of the dead weight.
Wolfman. It is simple, we are just now starting to get out of the shadow of Broyles. Yes he was a great coach and yes he was a great man, but his stubbornness on certain issues created a way of thinking on the hill that we are just now starting to change. His sudden firings, his strange refusal ti play in state teams and his micromanaging of the athletic programs continued through the program well after he had retired. Maybe they did it out of respect for his beliefs or maybe they were as closed minded as he was about some issues. No one has done more for the U of A than Broyles, but no one has held us back more than him as well.
Moutainhawg, you are correct sir!!! It is about the vision of the coach. Hey I think Pittman will be fine because every player that plays for him loves him and would run through a brick wall for him. Football is simply about being in the right place at the right time and doing your job. It is not about stature, 40 times and stats.
Yankee pig, bless your heart for not understanding what development is and the philosophy of development. It is well known that recruiting services are not very accurate. I am a coach and I have had players that were ranked highly and that ranking fluctuated throughout the year until it finally settled and in that same team players that were not even a two star that could easily be a solid player in D 1. It is about vision, philosophy, needs and what that particular coach sees in a certain player. Im gonna assume that you played some kind of high school sport(I hope) and that some coach told you that sports were 90 percent mental. This is also true for coaches and recruiting. It is not always about physical achievement. It is mostly about mental toughness, ability to get better, desire to succeed and how that player fits into the given situation. I hope that you are not some website reading nerd that think he knows everything about sports because you read all if the best recruiting sights. Oh wait I bet you watch Fox news and you believe everything you hear!
