No doubt! Us Gators haven't had much to hang our hat on the last few seasons. so we have to be as optimistic as possible. I think it's gonna be a great game tomorrow. Haven't been this excited about a game in a while.
I said that Florida is better on the paper, because we are. Look up the stats for yourself, big guy. It looks like SDS agrees since they have us one position ahead in these here rankings. LSU is 117th in the country in Kick return average and 114th in net punting. Also, your kick return defense is a lousy 115th in the country giving up 26.17 yards a kick, and almost dead last in kick return yardage given up. I haven't seen one person on here doubt that LSU has a great running game or underrate their backups. Alos, how is Brandon Harris way better than people think? If you go by the numbers, he's not better than Treon or Will Grier this season. Then you say this will be a good game, and then predict a 35-17 win?
How is our secondary the best part of our defense? On the contrary I believe our Dline in the best part of our team. Even with the 254 yards rushing we gave up to Tennessee, we only give up 99 yards per game on the ground. You quote the Tennessee game, but Ole Miss averages 188.3 yards a game, and we gave up 69 to them, their average per rush is 5.33, which is higher than Tennessee's. East Caroline average's 146 and we gave up -13, New Mexico State averages 162 and we gave up 64. Not only that, but we're 13th in tackles for a loss and 7th in sacks. We've done better against the run than the pass overall. They're not gonna run for 346 yards against this defense. Like I've mentioned before, our defense has cleaned up their tackling a considerable amount since the Tennessee game. Lets split the difference, LSU averages 7.19 yards per carry and we give up 3.05, so that's 5.12 yards a carry. To keep your average per game you'd have to run the ball 67.5 times. If y'all can do that and keep a really high average per rush, my hat goes off to LSU for sure. I not sure it's gonna be as easy as to "run the ball down Florida's throat" as you think it is.
We average 17.5 on road games not 14. You're really gonna try to prove a point by confirming the fact they LSU has played worse defenses than Florida? LSU's defenses played an average ranking of 85.4. We scored 27 on your defense last year with an absolutely terrible oline and an offense that turned the ball over three times, and you still only won by 3 points. Not to mention we had the worst head coach in football. I will agree with you on one fact, we will have to score more than 14 to win this game. Brandon Harris hasn't made any mistakes because he's thrown the ball 89 times. His completion ratio is great too, 57.3%. The best two passing defenses LSU has played (EMU-6th and MIss State-34th) Brandon Harris has a combined 175 yards, and went 13-28, that's 46%. If you think that Miss State or EMU has a better defense than Florida you're nuts. Don't see how it's a push a QB. Treon has a better completion % and QB rating, and like Brandon has 0 interceptions, Also Treon has thrown 2 tds in 27 attempts (TD every 13.5 attempt) and Brandon has 4 in 89 (TD every 22.5). Fournette better put that whole offense on his back. One more stat for you, LSU has given up 110 points in 5 games (Average 22 PPG ) against and average ranked offense of 87.4. UF has given up 86 points in 6 games (average 14.3 PPG) against an average offense ranking of 63. LSU averages roughly 5.6 PPG higher than UF on offense but has played an average of the 85.4 ranked defenses and UF 68.3. So, it's a wash on offense ,y'all have a better running game we have a better passing game. We win on defense and special teams, except place kicking LSU has the advantage there. But as we both know, the games no played on paper, so I guess we'll find out tomorrow night.
Brandon Harris hasn't done anything! LSU has played three back up QB's and Jeremy Johnson, who lost his starting job three games in. The only good QB y'all have played is Miss State and Dak, who threw for 335 yards. On paper, which means statistically, we lead 18 of 30 major statistical categories and we have the tougher strength of schedule at this point. East Carolina is the only team that effectively threw the ball against us, and he attempted 58 passes, not to mention we held them to -13 yards rushing for the game. LSU will have to run for 300+ yards to win the game. And you guys haven't even been close to a defensive line like we have. 7th in the country in sacks and 12th in tackles for a loss. And anybody who knows anything about football can see that we've improved significantly over the past two weeks. LSU definitely has the edge in the running game, no doubt about that. However, Fournette isn't running against the 44th,73rd, 105th, 107th, or 127th ranked rushing defense in FBS (which is where the teams LSU has played are ranked), he's running against the 12th, which is one spot higher than LSU at 13.
Let's not get too high on LSU's Oline. Yes, they have racked up piles of rushing yardage, and Fournette is truly the real deal. LSU gives up a sack every 12.85 pass attempts and Florida gives us a sack every 12.66. Also, LSU has played some horrible defenses against the run. I mean the best rush defense they've played is Syracuse. You got 391 yards on the ground against Eastern Michigan, who gave up 430 to Wyoming and 556 to Army. SDS's positional rankings are spot on except at QB, where I would say Treon has the edge. He hasn't played as Much as Grier this season, but he has better numbers on the ground and through through the air overall. Also, Florida as the edge in turnover margin, time of possession, and penalties. As previously stated we gave up some yardage on the ground earlier in the season, and most of the was due to poor tackling and bad pursuit angles, which has been cleaned up considerably. On paper Florida has the better team, but it's hard to win at night in Death Valley. Just don't count out Mac quite yet! Gonna be a heck of a game to watch. IF LSU win's they'll earn it, but as always GO Gators!
