Don't be too quick to judge Johnson's family for kicking him out of his home. If the Johnson family feared for their well-being or safety, they were right to have Thomas removed from the home. The police, though, were likely in a bad spot too, as they probably had to wait for Johnson to actually do something before taking any action against him. Without getting into a long rant, mental health in general, and what to do with people like Thomas Johnson in particular, are a glaring weakness in our overall health and/or justice systems. My sympathies to the family of the jogger, and also to the family of Thomas Johnson. I'm sure they are struggling with what has transpired, and what, if anything, they could have done differently.
