I agree. There seems to be an assumption by most people that it was a slam dunk case against Callaway in the sexual assault hearing and he only got off because UF appointed a booster. From what I read about the case it actually seemed like he would've been cleared anyway, but of course we'll never know because of the terrible decision by the school to appoint a booster. I also think Callaway will be fine in the NFL because they'll be able to monitor him better. All his problems at UF have been during the offseason when McElwain and the coaches aren't able to keep an eye on him.
This is what I've heard too. It'll be interesting if the NCAA gets involved and finds there's more to this story. The players should be punished for breaking the rules, but they'll be another story out there about how the players aren't fairly compensated and they wouldn't have to do stuff like this if they got paid.
Can you elaborate? How can you say he's getting star treatment when he hasn't been punished differently from any other player? I'm not saying you are wrong, I just can not think of any instance where McElwain punished a player more than he has Callaway.
I don't think Mac turned his back on Grier. I think Grier wanted guarantees that he'd be the starter when he came back and Mac wouldn't give him any guarantees and said he'd have to beat the other guys. If Callaway had been in Grier's situation I don't think he would have any guarantees either, but Callaway wouldn't need them because he's by far the best receiver and would beat out anyone else.
As far as I know Callaway hasn't received any star treatment. I'm not a reporter and I haven't done any investigating beyond what I can remember from Mac's first 3 years, but I don't think there's been any player kicked off the team or suspended longer because they weren't star players. In addition, I believe Mac said in this press conference that all these players are suspended indefinitely so it may be more than a one game suspension. Also the whole point about Mac's attitude coming into the press conference and how he avoided direct answers is complete crap. If this had been some violent crime like the ones committed by UF players under Meyer then Mac probably would've had a more serious tone and Nick Saban and Urban Meyer and every other coach never give details about why players are suspended.
