On some level, the kid has a point. Can any team actually be THAT good?! Because, TN made us look damn near perfect!
So, in your world, a quarter century is recent? Drops the mic.
Man, Tech - Clemson at noon and then UGA - Auburn at 7:30. NICE DAY!
Georgia fans that give you crap are idiots. That said, your Ramblin' Wreck has "To Hell With Georgia" on the pennants every week. What's up with that?
I've been to LSU several times and I'm pretty sure my recollection is of LSU fans throwing dog biscuits at the UGA band. And I've NEVER seen, nor heard of UGA fans throwing milkbones. That makes no sense.
If this really happened, I want this person to go to Athen, UGA and the UGA Athl. Dept. to complain. I want this to get more press, if it's true.
Or perhaps everyone hates UGA because we provide a serious challenge year in and year out. 40 years of attending games and I've never seen anyone spit on. If you got spit on, you lost the lottery. As a Tech guy, you should understand the statistical likelihood that I've never seen it in 40 years and it happened to you.
I am a graduate of the University of Georgia. I have been attending games in Sanford stadium and around the Southeast for nearly four decades and have probably been to nearly 200 games in Sanford stadium. I can say, categorically, that I've never seen anyone spit on, ever. How can I be so certain? Because I would have absolutely lost it and probably helped to instruct the spitter on correct decorum for UGA fans. Look, I'm not saying NONE of what he describes herein happened. I just think the degree to which he describes it is a bit of an exaggeration. I believe he was called names (Barner, loser, etc). I believe, absolutely, that they were booed when they entered a bar (most likely all wearing Auburn gear and welcoming the taunts). I believe someone spilled a drink on him, maybe intentionally (like the one the Auburn fan threw on Larry Munson in 1982). I might even be willing to accept that he was spit on once. But if all of those things happened to him, he did something to welcome such attention. If you wear Auburn gear to Athens and you smile at strangers and you're not an ass, no one is gonna give you much of a hard time. Again, nearly 40 years of attending games. At some point, my experience ceases to be anecdotal and becomes a longitudinal study in fan behavior. The notion of 20 different people spitting on him is absolutely laughable. Again, I've NEVER seen anyone spit on. NEVER! If this guy got spit on 20 times, he needs to buy a lottery ticket NOW or NEVER go outside when there's thunder. He's a walking statistical outlier. I will echoed the sentiments of the Georgia Alum "Chris" who has written an eloquent response. Come to Athens in 2016. I'll buy you a ticket and guarantee you a good time. No one will spit on you and you will not fear for your safety. These are not true Bulldogs that do this kind of crap. This is not what I see and it's not what I want to see from fans of MY team. I'll be interested to see if we ever know who this person is or if he ever takes his grievance to the city of Athens, the University of Georgia, or the UGA Athletic Department directly. Because if this stuff really did happen to him, I want him to do that. I want him to stand up in front of the city, the school and the UGAAD and say, "your fans are out of control and something needs to be done." If he can look me in the eye and tell me that this stuff really happened to him, I will stand behind him as he tells those people that things have to change.
The stadium is at the Fair Grounds. You tailgate in a parking lot. Loyal fans? Hell YES! Great football game experience? Not really. Good, yes.
And Ohio State doesn't do Script Ohio after the game. That's pregame.
You're lying about the Ga-Ga Tech game having plenty of available seats. That's just a lie. Here's a link to the stats for that game and attendance is listed as 92,746. http://www.georgiadogs.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2006-2007/fb1206.htm That's capacity. It was a sell out. And yeah, this is the only time the two teams met in Athens with those two guys on the field at the same time. Of course, you could be lying about that. So, I checked 08 and 04. Those were both sellouts. Want the links?
Yeah, I'm incredulous that Athens, consistently named America's best college town by all sorts of sources, didn't eve make the list. But I'm honestly furious that Oxford didn't. So, yeah, say all you want about me being a whining Georgia fan. Fine. I'll be jealous all year while the folks in L.A. soak in the great college football atmosphere. Did they just throw darts, or what?
