Yeah, I sure liked their technique on Oct 4th.
Have to agree with Big Mike on this one.. Don't get me wrong, I love the SEC, but the PAC 12 game was on a Friday, in the rain, and 560/830 miles away from their prospective schools. Mizzou did travel better than I suspected, but the stadium was predominantly Bama fans. And you dont have to be such a homer RM.. That was the closest thing to a home game Bama could have had outside of Bryant–Denny. Bama traveled further than they did this weekend to most of their away games all year. Also, they even have the same turf in their practice facility in Tuscaloosa.
Jk Scott is on this list, they just have the P on the DEF for some reason.
But to be honest, the biggest snub was Curt Maggit. His numbers were on par with Garrett's and ALL 11 of his sacks came against SEC teams.
Let me rephrase myself. Its not just about the overall numbers. Sure Garrett had 11 sacks and set the new freshman record, but he only had 3 against SEC opponents while receiving much more playing time. I'm not saying that Haynes should get one of the two spots on the ALL-SEC team, but to not even have a vote after being tied for 8th in the SEC in sacks while playing as a back-up is a little off to me.
How does Marquis Haynes not even have a vote?!!! 7.5 sacks while only playing in a reserve role ( 5.5 of which came in SEC play). In comparison, Myles Garret had 11 sacks as a starter for A&M and 8 of those came against Lamar, Rice, and LA-Monroe. People need to realize that its not always JUST about the numbers.
"Winston had every right to do what he did!" Actually, no, he didn't. As per the NCAA Rule Book; Rule 9, Section 2, Article 4 "Persons subject to the rules shall not intentionally contact a game official forcibly during the game. PENALTY—Administer as a dead-ball foul. 15 yards from the succeeding spot. Automatic first down for fouls by Team B if not in conflict with other rules. Automatic disqualification"
So, he does this last year and gets a 1/2 game suspension. He obviously didn't learn his lesson and gets caught twice against LSU as well as being flagged for a dirty late hit. Now, all the SEC does is suspend him for one game? Seems pretty weak if you ask me.
He never said that MSU sucked. He just said that they shouldn't be considered a contender just yet. LSU is the only decent team they've beaten. If they come back and beat A&M and AU over the next 2 weeks, then you've got an argument, but for now you're just a good team that has been ranked in the teens accordingly. With that being said, Ole Miss has no claim to be considered a contender yet either. We have to play Bama, A&M, AU, and LSU over the next 6 weeks. We'll need to win 3 of those 4 before anyone could rightfully label us a playoff contender. So lets ALL not get ahead of ourselves.
MSU suspended Day for a 1/2 game for stomping on an Auburn player last year. Now, this week, he stomps on two different players and has a blatant late hit (which was called) later in the game. Dillon Day is just a dirty player, there's no other way to put it. It was bad enough stomping on the 1st ones stomach, but the 2nd one he obviously jumps out with that right leg and comes down on the players thigh. 1) He could have EASILY pulled off left on the 2nd play. 2) The 2nd guy he stomps on (Rashard Robinson) is 122 lbs lighter than him, he could have easily broken his leg coming down like that. There's no room in football for plays like this.
