Compare the head-to-head result in which Bama played their best offensive game of the year and still lost to the Vols. Compare the teams Tennessee has beaten with the ones Bama has beaten. Alabama has not beaten anyone in the top 20. Tennessee has beaten two teams in the top 14.

Alabama benefitted from their two mediocre games being earlier in the season. Had they struggled to beat either of those garbage teams (A&M and Texas) the weekend Tennessee lost to S. Carolina, then the Vols would probably be ranked higher. Using the committee's own published criteria, Tennessee should be ranked higher than Alabama, especially considering the head-to-head result and the games Tennessee has won.

Exactly. His argument makes better sense to justify Tennessee being ranked ahead of Alabama (because they beat them head-to-head). The committee's logic and rankings have been very inconsistent all season and a minor Clemson drop is an example. They are not using their own published determinants when ranking teams. The expanded playoff can't get here fast enough.

Definitely missed 1998 Florida vs Tennessee. HUGE game with national implications that went into OT with over raving 100K present. The ball was kicked wide left and the stadium literally shook.
