This is true, but maybe some of the whining would stop. I would love to see something like a 14 team playoff with each conference champion and 4 at large bids but that will never happen. Maybe an 8 team playoff with the conference champions from SEC-ACC-Big 10-PAC 12-Big 12 and 3 at large teams might appease a few. Neither one of those would be perfect either though and people would still complain.
You are correct Bamatime, West Virginia in 2016 not this season. This year we play UCONN and BYU.
MIZZOU has been trying to add better quality teams to the schedule over the past few years. Teams like Arizona State, and next year they play West Virginia, the same school that Alabama opened their 2014 season against. I don't expect MIZZOU to be challenging for a playoff spot this year (Hope I'm wrong) , but I do agree though that they will have to keep scheduling quality opponents in order to impress the playoff committee should they find theirselves in that position. I hope that one day MIZZOU will elevate their recruiting. Pinkel knows how to put good teams on the field despite the recruiting disadvantage, so I would love to see what he could do with a couple top 10 classes. Before anyone says anything I know they say thats not how Pinkel recruits...I would still like to see what he could do with top ten classes. I hope you're wrong about that eastern title. Unfortunately after not having great receivers this year, not having any proven receivers next year, Mauk being sketchy (hopefully only due to lack of receivers), losing 2 great defensive ends, and Marcus Murphy...
West Virginia next year was a pretty good opponent to add as well, I think.
How about just saying: even though it was a down year for the east all but two teams qualified for and won their respective bowl games? The west (who played higher caliber teams) qualified all 7 teams, but lost a couple of close games to stellar opponents dropping their bowl record to 2-5? This website did a great job this year of turning people against each other (west vs east), and yes I believe that the west is the stronger division. That doesn't mean that we should try to talk smack about the other division when they stumble. I don't like playing the "we beat so and so that you lost to so your team sucks" game. Yes I also realize that MIZZOU got smoked by Alabama and Georgia. I also concede that I believe Georgia was a more solid team than MIZZOU, even though they fell on their face at FL. (Just like MIZZOU did at home vs Indiana and GA.
Let's keep going... Wow if you use this logic, Alabama would be in like 6th place in the MAC... Can you believe it, Western Michigan is the best team in the nation!!! Western Michigan>Central Michigan>Northern Illinois>Western Michigan>BowlingGreen>Indiana>Mizzou>Arkansas>Ole Miss>Alabama
Good to hear a UGA fan say this. What a crazy season! Mizzou loses to Indiana (everytime I think about that my head starts to twitch) UGA loses to SC, then forces 5 turnovers and destroys Mizzou at home to control their own destiny. Then the craziness with the UGA/FL game gives Mizzou new life. Mizzou defies all odds and wins out. The Mizzou/UGA game has been won by the road team all three years we've played and has yet to be played by both teams at 100%... Maybe next year we will get to see both teams show up at the same time...One can hope!
It's got to be a great thing to see how tough BA is and know that you likely have another two years of that toughness coming with his brother!
Wow, that was a good game. I wasn't sure Mizzou was going to pull this one out earlier in the week and even more unsure in the first half. Obviously Arkansas is a lot better than their record, especially considering their schedule which was considerably tougher than Mizzou's. This was a great game between two good teams. Of course there were some calls that are going to set people off. Especially the two fumble calls. However, replay did get them both right. If anybody watching was paying attention to the commentators when they explained the rules it was clear the call was correct. It was also clear that Arkansas did not have possession of the fumble in the fourth quarter. Yes that sucks if you're an Arkansas fan, nonetheless they were correct. I know it's easier to take from my position right now, but again they were correct. Now for the late hit on Allen, clearly that was a late hit and uncalled for. Whether or not he heard the whistle he's got to be aware that 7 offensive players all around him including the quarterback are standing upright and not defending themselves..unacceptable. That bonehead play kept the drive going for Arkansas, remember they were about to be backed up by an offensive penalty. Finally the bad calls in this game or should I say non calls, offensive linemen tackling defensive players, face mask/illegal hands to the face to Mauk on the incomplete pass. Watch the video that SDS posted again from 39 seconds to 42 seconds you'll see Mauk's right hand going forward, his left arm up as he was throwing the ball not down as if he was going to tuck the ball, oh and if you pause it at 41 seconds you'll see Flower's hand in Mauk's face mask that wasn't called.
We get no respect! All we have to do is fix the offense and defense and we will be fine! Seriously though one bad game...one really bad, O.K. one horrible game, and we're done? I understand if Mizzou's offense plays like that in SEC play they would be lucky to get to a bowl game, but so far it's one bad performance. Hopefully the team will show up against South Carolina...and the rest of the conference. Upsets happen every year, remember Tennessee beating South Carolina last year, Vandy over Georgia, etc? Before anybody starts I know anything can happen in conference games between teams that play each other every year.
