F minus? Is there a F plus by chance? In my book, failing is failing lol... I have so many comments to make here, but I have been told not to feed the trolls, in only encourages them. So you'll go hungry, my friend. And best of luck to your team on Saturday. May the best team win :)
Oh my God...seriously...lol! ANY fan that can take their season with a grain of salt and make a comment like this? Oh man...I am still laughing! Nicely played, Good Sir!
Let me echo that sentiment...if we need to start a petition, YOU, my good sir, are certainly one of THE best writers on this site, hands down! Or is it hands up? Too soon? Sorry...I am from Missouri, and all of this stuff up here is really getting out of hand. Not to get off-topic, but most Missouri residents are ashamed at what is happening in North St Louis. I assure you: the rest of the state is NOT represented by the stuff happening up there... This is really the only place I can go to escape all of the crap happening here. And the media is not even reporting it all, so thanks again, for the refreshing insight on Mizzou. And please, keep the incredible articles coming!
Murf, we have two more you can certainly add to your roster, once Mizzou let's them go :) I don't need to name drop here...we all know who they are, and ANY NFL team would be better to have them on their roster!
Murf, bro...can I just say how AWESOME this article is? Great analysis and very well put together :) I love the videos, too. Proof positive that we DO have what it takes to bring it to the Tide. Let the best team win!
Seriously? THE best article I have read in a very long time. Congrats on the word usage here and let it be known that "swajo" was read here first, if/when it becomes popular lol... Great analysis, even though this might upset many a fan. But truth be known: he doesn't hide any punches and is starting to drink the kool-aid we are serving in Columbia :) But just like everyone else has already stated: if you predicted Missouri to be the SEC East Champs two years in a row, you were either an idiot or a die-hard fan of the Tigers. Even I didn't see this coming - sure, I wanted us to be competitive, but this? It is truly an HONOR to be in this game against the Tide (arguably THE best team college football has ever seen, and rightfully so). But please, just don't count us out...yet. The Tide will have to work for every yard against our seasoned and well-coached defense. And if our offense is on-key? Watch out for the long ball and big plays against a team no one expects to lose. Do I actually think Mizzou will win? Not exactly...but...we have a chance. We fought our way to this game. And by record alone, deserve to represent the East in this game. All the doubters are now starting to see the caliber of football being pushed out of a little town a stone's throw from our capital. We also may not have 4-5 star talent, but "Mizzou Made" is how we get players to gel together and win. And win is what we have been doing. All season long we have been doubted and all season long we have been winning...yes, we lost two crucial games (one rather embarrassing loss to Indiana), but picked ourselves back up, and pushed forward. And here is the result: an improbable run to the SECCG and a shot at the nations most revered of titles - SEC Champions. That's right: we actually have a shot to pull the biggest upset since well, last year at the Iron Bowl. Let me make one last point: the Missouri Tigers play all four quarters. And I believe this game will go down to who has the ball last and who wants it more. I expect a shoot-out between two programs looking to etch their names in college football history. Each program wanting to do so for their respective reasons. Regardless of the result, I am proud of both organizations and what they represent to college football everywhere - that anything is possible. Again, well-written and great article all together.
Case in point: you all have not played Missouri's defense, yet. And I stress yet. We shall see how Bama does against a top-ranked pass rush and run-stop schemes. You can't pass the ball with hands in your face...no matter how good your receivers are. It should be a good game all the way around - I believe so many people are expecting a blow-out, and that's just not gonna happen. This is OUR game to lose. If we play our best football, we will have a very good chance at beating Alabama. We do respect the Tide though (I mean, who doesn't?). Your win record speak for themselves. That being said: just don't count us out.
So...Mizzou wins the East two years in a row and we are ALREADY talking about yet ANOTHER team that will be favored in the East next year? So much for the respect...I guess no matter how many wins we have, this common theme will carry over into yet again, another season. I wonder if we win the SECCG, will we will be favored then?? I am guessing not...because they will find a way to excuse the win away somehow, just like they did all season long for us last year. Face it guys: the Missouri Tigers are now contenders, whether you all like it or not. And WE should be the "team to beat" in the East next season. Anyone care to prove me wrong? This takes NOTHING away from the amazing program and turnaround from Volnation. Guys...they have been and always will be a great school for football. But where's the counter-argument for Mizzou? UGA? All that I have to say is this: TN has a lot more work to do before it will be "the team to beat" next season, or any other season for that matter. Mizzou and Georgia are POWER schools in that conference now, and their respective records speak to that.
Funny how that happens...and EVERYTHING that I read posted how Arky was on a roll and this and that. Well, I watched the game. I never had a doubt. Those around me were like "This is Missouri Football?" And I all I said was, "just wait for it, there are FOUR quarters of football." Interesting how that game turned out and now Arky was the underdog all of the sudden. Did everyone get amnesia? I didn't read ONE article that favored our tigers to turn that on out...NOT ONE. It seems the only thing left for us to do is win it all. Then we will have the respect we deserve. Either way, I am very proud of where we are and where we have come.
Thank you for this :) This will be a FANTASTIC game!
This is actually not a bad idea lol...Mizzou Underdogs. Kinda like it :)
I second that! #hailstate :) Thanks for the respect!
We SLAMMED OSU last year in our bowl game. We could smash ANY BIG12 team now. And ANY BIG12 team that they will place us in a bowl game with. This is what SEC football does to teams - it makes them play elite college football! Yes...I am drinking Black and Gold kool-aid lol...
Yeah...that would just be horrid...please UGA...do NOT lose to GT!
Three words...2013 Iron Bowl. What was that? I'm sorry...I can't hear you over how AWESOME the end of that game was!
Jefhuas, see what you started?? lol...
You mean, like not posting 4 memes about Missouri? Well, I guess the first one was a dig on Tennessee, but honestly, it does make Mizzou look bad. As if we came in their all cocky and KNEW we would beat Tennessee...so absurd! If you don't respect your opponents, then you will most assuredly lose. Every Saturday we have fought, scratched and clawed to win. There are no easy victories in this conference.
Exactly my point...we were projected to be a mid-pack team, not leading the SEC East. We are in the driver seat because we continue to win.
My apologies friend, it was meant as a joke, but in bad form. I have mad respect for Rocky Top. I have friends that literally bleed orange... About that comment though: We were supposed to be good? We were? How so? Quote ANYONE that said Mizzou was supposed to do well. We exited the season last year ranked 5th in the country and came into this season completely unranked. We have had nothing but bad commentary about Mizzou since we came into the SEC. And yes, we HAVE...we have done nothing but prove everyone wrong since those losses. So what point were you driving at? And in all honesty? Ask ANY respectable UGA fan and even though it may sting, they would disagree with you. Sure, we got slaughterd by UGA and had a horrible showing against Indiana, but never faltered ONCE against Florida and also beat SC. We are 13-2 in regular season conference play (the past two seasons) for a reason. So no...Georgia had their shot to get in the SECCG but blew it. Mizzou had nothing to do with their losses, they can only blame themselves for that. And I wouldn't be so sure that Arkansas will beat Mizzou at home. Unless you have some random statistic that states this. Then again, anything can happen. Remember the Iron Bowl last year? Anything can happen any given Saturday down south.
I would disagree...the couch one was a little much imo. I have mad respect for UGA brother, but taken in stride and as a joke, I am sure we can all laugh it off in good fun :) And besides, if we don't play Mizzou football tomorrow, we will have to steal that one from you all :( Also, 4 of these are about my Mizzou Tigers...and the last one was just a low blow! lol...the Tennessee one just made me chuckle a little.
Because people in Arkansas hit "publish comment" before they are finished typing...lol jk man! :) I hope we see an awesome game tomorrow! Best of luck to you all :)
Finally! Someone is starting to actually write intelligent and well-informed articles (well, really only one so far that I have seen) on our amazing defensive prowess this season. But it really isn't a story about this season alone, no...we have been building on this over the past 3-4 seasons. I would LOVE for Mizzou to become known around the league (and especially our conference) as THE defensive team to fear. After all: offense wins games, but defense wins championships. That being said: we cannot overlook our offense altogether. And amazingly enough, it has also made this season come back into focus for us. Regardless of the outcome tomorrow, I am very proud of the way we played this season in the nation's toughest conference (imo). To the awesome and respectful hog fans: best of luck and may the best team win! To my Mizzou fans: this IS the blackout game, correct? For those that don't know...if it is, take a look at the crowd tomorrow and you will see what I mean :)
Same here. They have to have the best and most respectful (albeit humble) fan base in all of the SEC (IMO). And yes, I must say, it must sting watching us decide whether you go on to the SECCG after slashing us at home. That being said, thanks for the respectful comments. Mizzou fans have nothing but respect for the elite fans, players and program from UGA.
Agreed...are all Georgia fans this awesome? Well said and respectful. And no, we are not beating our chests. Just proud we turned the season around and have gotten this far. And to think: since we entered this conference, we have had nothing but doubt from nearly EVERYONE except the Mizzou faithful. And here we are, yet again, with the chance to represent the East in the CG. This is nothing short of amazing!
Ironic! I was like...did he seriously misspell that word on purpose?? And yes, I would have to agree. Mizzous School of Journalism is one of the premier schools in the country. js...
Well said and thank you for the respectful comment. Best of luck to you all against GATech!
Respect to Georgia. Great team. Just lost to a well-matched Florida and SC team. No need to hang your heads low. It happens to the best of teams.
"Bless your heart"...from a Southerner is a true insult...lol. But what it meant? We will "beat" Georgia if we beat you all...basically eliminating their chances to go to the SECCG. There...I was kind enough to spell this out...and without insulting him...good grief guys! Best of luck to both teams and may the best team win.
