He didn’t whine, just stated it was a safety issue. He said, with hurry up, there was no time to substitute players which would force more players to play fatigued resulting in a greater amount of injuries. He also pointed out that it was a direct contradiction to everything the NCAA was claiming to want. Finally, his response was… if that’s where you want college football to go, just be ready for it. Then, he adapted better and faster than any other tenured coach.
A guy with 2-10 win seasons at cellar dweller programs in 2 different power conferences. Maybe use better logic. Leach has been racing against Ferraris in a Ford and won a few.
I don’t see a problem with them either and honestly, I think they look more like Miss State than the Maroon and Gold we wore at the Egg Bowl years ago. Although, I liked those too!
Seriously? UGA uses or has used Red, Black, White, Silver, and Gray. When you claim 5 different shades as your school colors, instead of just 2 like normal, you don’t have to break tradition.
Technically, that’s not true. The court ruled that TTU had sovereign immunity and that he could not sue them. The court never ruled if TTU owed him money or not.
To be fair, his comment wasn’t wrong at that time. Saban was content to stick with his style of running the ball and defense which cost him a few games. He certainly has modernized his offense and it’s made him a better coach. Nothing wrong with calling it as you see it.
It’s definitely about money, but it’s more about being in a good position as the NCAA becomes irrelevant. Div1 football season will move to a structure similar to the NFL and have conference champions play into the playoff. Texas and OU knew they would be on the outside of a major change in the power structure. Also, the SEC will not cater to Texas. Texas was a power broker in the Big12 from the start and wielded that power. The SEC is a much more homogenized conference and decisions are for the better of the conference, not individuals.
