This guys a clown. First he makes excuses before the game, to prepare for a postgame deluge of excuses. Next he says he didn't have to play the "Cotton Bowl" and wanted to play to use as a springboard for next year, so apparently they didn't prepare to win. Then he says that they used scout players, so he put in less than adequate players and he really didn't try to win. I know that they were short on receivers, but his recruiting classes of young receivers were still there and the receivers did not give up 55 points. Finally, he says he thought his crappy players played well and it was the plan, to have a good experience for next years roster. He may win the weaker part of the SEC, but he will rarely beat Bama for the SEC championship. Oh BTW, he played a lot of scout team players. Yeah, after it was evident they were getting blown out. Every team misses players at year's end, by injury or opt outs. You treat the opt outs like injuries. He teaches his kids that you make excuses and not treat the situation as next man up. He told his team that the ones that played alot were inadequate and not good enough. Great message, we lost big because of the people we played. Finally, the core of your defense was there. Yes 1 or 2 players were missing, but you got blown off the field. Nearly 500 yards rushing. That's a physical beating. Take your lumps, no excuses, cudos to the team that beat you and say we will be better, because these experiences can positively impact your team going forward. Being short handed with mainly wide receivers, against a team that "isn't in your class" is no excuse to get blown off the field. Saban would never say that and he wouldn't get blown off the field due to a few good missing players. Same for Dabo and Clemson. Florida did not have the heart and the staff did not prepare the team as a championship coach would.
This was obviously to appease the SEC. They have 8 conference games on their schedule and don't want to add, so they don't add 2 losses to their their team schedules. They want the cupcake for before rivalry weekend. The B10 and Pac 12 will have 10 conference games. If the SEC had just 9 conference games (which they won't do in normal times), 50% of the conference is guaranteed 1 more loss and then add a 10th game.....? They definitely had the best team last year and the SEC West has had the best division most of the last 10 years, but that is changing. Since Arkansas has tanked and the 2 MISS. schools nosedived, they aren't necessarilly the best division and have 4 strong teams. Other divisions are catching up and the SEC is finally becoming more balanced (with the east having a couple strong teams, now) and a better overall conference, than they had been. There is no way the SEC commissioner will allow those extra losses for their teams and hurt their chances for better bowl positioning. Allowing 2 FCS wins to count is a joke and mainly for the SEC. It's time that the NCAA add in some standards, to be eligible for the playoffs. 1st, 9 conference games as a standard. 1 FCS game, to be played in the 1st two weeks of the season, not near season's end (the SEC s the only conference to do this). 1 of the remaining games must be against another P5 team and non-P5 teams must play 2 P5 teams. This year, set a standard of at least 9 conference games and no FCS. The Big 12 only has 9 conference games, due to just 10 teams. The SEC should use their 10th game to play cross over with Big 12. Will never happen, because the SEC commissioner has to protect the records, so eliminate risk.
