If you need to impose such conditions on a guy that is making $7.5m/yr, then the situation is not salvageable. Time to move on.

Stop beating the drum for Belk. Houston's recruiting has plummeted since he arrived. He cannot be a DC and recruit at the same time. Hate to say this, but from what it looks like, our Bull Gators are morons. That any of them think Mullen is worth keeping is mind blowing. And that I don't see any mention at all at forcing Mullen to sign a new contract with a basement salary an ultra low buyout, in return for getting him new assistants, is mind blowing. And to see them say that if he beats FSU they'll get the extra money for assistants - when it is Mullen's fault to begin with, is mind blowing. Unconscionable that anyone is willing to back Mullen at all, at this point. Basically I see some of the biggest boosters are willing to pay Mullen $7.5m/yr, only to have to coddle him, make hires for him, spend extra money for him, and effectively make him into an OC. This is the mark of insanity. And the new revelations about Stricklin and women's bball. The program is dead.

A massive NO to anyone on the current staff. The stench of Mullen has to go. That includes Mullen and the AD. DC picks are useless as long as Mullen is around. UF just had another de-commit yesterday. That said... The pick is Charlie Strong. Any debate about this is crazy. Marquand Manuel is also acceptable. UF needs someone from the family. The DC hire should be someone that can take over for Mullen immediately, because that idiot is getting fired. Houston is not even sniffing the top 10 in scoring defense. They face offenses this year that avg 75th in the nation and only give up 1pt less than UF, and UF has faced better offenses. USF scored 20 on Grantham, and scored 42 on Belk. Since Belk arrived at Houston they have dropped about 12 spots in recruiting. He was a good recruiter when he was just starting. Now that he has other things to worry about than just a position group, he's obviously not recruiting well at all. You need to do some basic fact checking before calling him some recruiting savant. There's a reason Kirby wanted him as a position coach, and only a position coach. The rest of the guys, IMO, are just not great fits at UF. Charlie Strong. Marquand Manuel. That is the way forward.
