Haha love the sense of humor. If guilty they're all yours!
I believe I saw somewhere that the reason Richt did not want to call plays was because he felt like he would be better able to focus on the team as a whole as well as the individual player better if he were not focused on deciding which plays to call. Can't remember where I saw it that; might have been the AJC or another site about UGA or could have been dawgbytes on facebook. But that's the only real reason I could find.
To be honest, I think Sutton of the Vols should be up there with, maybe above Swann. Maybe he isn't as great of an all around player as Swann is, but I do believe he is a better cornerback. And this is coming from a UGA fan that loves watching Swann play. I like the list for sure though.
Well, honestly I don't know what to say. Being a Georgia fan, and having attended many Georgia games in Athens, I have seen a few of the things mentioned that went on. At the bowl game in Jacksonville last year, there was one Georgia fan in particular a couple of rows behind us that was extremely vulgar, yelling obscenities at both the teams and opposing fans. My grandpa was with me that day, and very politely asked them to not use that kind of language. They obliged, but like a bunch of middle schoolers, started talking bad about him and laughing behind his back. Very few Georgia fans are like that. And the ones that are, and I speak for myself and most of the Georgia nation, we are ashamed of. Maybe every fan base has these kinds of fans, maybe it's worse at Georgia. I honestly don't know, and can't say for sure. But they are an embarrassment to the University of Georgia, and I am sorry for their actions. Please don't use these kinds of people define who we are as a fan base, because they are not an accurate representation of who we are. To anyone whom we have offended, I am very sorry, and had I seen or known about it Saturday, I would have most definitely stepped in and defended you all. Nobody deserves to be treated like the person that wrote that was. And for that, I am truly sorry.
I'm not buying the "what was Mark Richt thinking" argument. There were 6 minutes left in the ballgame. Auburn's offense can be electric, score fast, and they have been extremely resilient under Gus. I do not blame Richt at all for keeping his best players out there for that drive to ensure the victory. You don't take the foot off the gas until you're up three or more possessions with a couple minutes left. What happens if a freshman fumbles and gets it returned for an auburn touchdown? Then its much more of a ballgame. Gurley needed his reps after sittng out. I'm sure he wanted in. I have no problem whatsoever with how he handled Gurley.
Yeah for me as a UGA fan, it would definitely be the 2012 SEC championship against Bama. Just knowing we were so close to winning a national championship (seriously, that was the national championship since Notre Dame didn't stand a chance) yet were literally 1 play away due to a tipped ball being caught... I mean that was the most heartbreaking loss I've ever been a part of, even moreso than the 2013 UGA Auburn game.
To all bama fans out there I want to apologize. I respect the heck out of y'alls program and believe you deserve all the prestige that comes with the University of Alabama football program. That Georgia fan's opinion is not the opinion of myself or most any Georgia fan's. Georgia doesn't have the titles that Alabama has but I am still proud to be a Georgia bulldog fan. Best of luck the rest of the year and I hope to meet y'all again in the dome this December!
